PA will be undertaking the final vigil with his siblings - Harry will not be there. It is only at this final vigil that he will be allowed to wear military uniform.

These are the key points in the story:

* Working members - which includes neither Andrew nor Harry - of the royal family will wear uniform when present at five ceremonial events during this period of mourning the Queen.
* as a non-working member of the royal family, the Duke of York will not wear uniform, sources said, except as a special mark of respect for the Queen at the final vigil in Westminster Hall.
* neither Harry nor William are attending the vigil in Westminster Hall, which is only for the Queen's children - Charles, Andrew, Anne and Edward.

So if you want to read it that "they" found an event that Andrew could wear his uniform at and Harry couldn't attend, specifically so that Andrew could wear a uniform at one (out of five) events and Harry couldn't wear one at any events, then you could read it that way. Or you could read it another way! Personally, I think it's nothing to do with favouritism. Attending the vigil is hardly the main event.

Have just watched the procession of the queen's casket from Holyrood Palace to St Giles Cathedral for the thanksgiving service. Three of the queen's children were in military uniform but Prince Andrew was in a morning suit.

I'm glad the idiots lining the Royal Mile who started clapping as the coffin passed were quickly put in their place. If you turn up to pay your respects to someone, then you should do just that: stand in reverent, solemn silence.

And I think the policemen along the route should have been told to remove their horrible hi-vis jackets and police the procession in their black uniforms.

goodgoalie, apparently the queen was heartened by the polite applause after the Queen Mother died so I suppose a precedent has been set. I would prefer to hear applause rather than see people raise their arms to get photographs of the hearse and coffin.
