It took decades to get a change of public attitude and stop folk smoking by others; then the uncaring saw that as an oportunity to destroy that benefit for personal financial gain and create & sell another pollutant to spew onto others. The last thing a considerate society needs is encouragement for such antisocial behaviour. Either for new uptakers, or those looking to carry on as if it was still decades ago. The practice should be banned on all public and especially confined spaces.

so it is on trains; but it's one of the most widely ignored bans (second only to e-scooters on trains) presumably because the train companies can't legally enforce it. (smoking is very tightly legally defined, and vaping falls outside of that).

the result is my train to work smells like a strawberry muffin. :-(

I thought that smoking had been banned on TV shows and films to curtail the "cool" image it portrayed but it seems to have sneaked back in.
