I posted early this morning that the missile (one at any rate) was assessed likely to a Ukrainian air defence missile.
Ymb is right of course: collateral damage.

Zelensky is doing the Ukrainian cause enormous damage by his stance. Yes, if they had not been attacked in the first place this wouldn't have happened, but that isn't a plausible excuse. He should admit that it was an accident & apologise to the Poles & family members of those killed, or risk losing the support without which ultimate victory can not be achieved.

This is a real teaser.

Mr. Z apologising for the collateral damage that resulted in the deaths of 2 Polish civilians.
Mr, Z will find it awfully difficult to detach himself from the fact if it were not for Russia's invasion it would not have necessitated to use the air defence system in the first place. Hence the responsibility for those 2 killings lie at the feet of Putin.

It really is a wrestle of the conscience.

I side with you on stating it was clearly an accident. In addition he should also be expressing his condolences to those families, but perhaps in a way that still emphasises the aggressor Putin, is still very much unrepentant for his actions.

Whilst many will consider the Ukrainian defence system being the immediate cause of the strike, the more likely scenario, I've seen no clear proof of that from the media so far. It's still apparently speculation based on what seems most likely. And one notes this scenario makes things less fraught for all, so likely to be the official account in the face of any doubt. In any case one would not expect admittance of responsibility without clear proof so I don't see Zelensky's rejection should affect anyone who has any intelligence and no agenda. The main issue is still the same. There was an invasion, still ongoing, that caused all the violence, injury, death, and criminality, and we know which government/leader willingly caused that.
