Don't like or usually agree with that guy but I can't disagree with this:

“I think we need to look at the efficiency of government to make sure money is well spent before reaching for the easy option of putting up taxes."
I agree with him about the efficiency of government. Get rid of most of the Lords and MPs. Make both houses elected. Cut down on scrounging by getting rid of the taxpayer funded bars and other expenses. Make guffawing, falling asleep whilst supposedly working and lounging on the benches fineable offences. There's plenty that could be done.
I agree with him too.

JRM is a Tory, Sunak and Hunt are CINO's. WEF stooges the pair of them who will be the finish of the Conservatives for some years.

We need a growth Policy, shrink the State and cut waste alongside loosing the ruinous Net Zero rubbish that China is just laughing at.

//CINO's. WEF //

What does that mean?
Canary , The Tories no longer call it a Budget .
It is now known as The Autumn Statement . Following on from the Sunny Uplands.
naomi - CINO is Conservative in name only. I expect TTT will call it Labour Lite in honour of Tony Blair's Labour/Tory Lite government.
Oh thanks, BHG. And WEF?
Sorry, WEF confuses me as well.
Omething to do with wrestling? Or World economic Forum?
Truss put ab end to any chance of that idea gettingnof the ground youngmagfog
Haha! Wrestling sounds about right! :o)
I tht this was about someones cat!
WEF = World Economic Forum (supporters)
Thanks very much, OG.
He makes some good points, as TGL said the state should be as small as possible.

The cost of Parliament is but a drop in the ocean, tomus. The main cost of "government" is the huge numbers of scribes and their managers in offices (or more often these days, at home, munching Hobnobs between taking the kids to and from school). Tens of thousands were recruited to "cope" withe the pandemic. The pandemic has come and gone but many of those people haven't.

There are far too many people working for the government (at all levels), many of them in non-productive jobs which make no difference to the wellbeing of the country and which, if not undertaken, would make no difference to anybody at all (other than the people doing them).
//The cost of Parliament is but a drop in the ocean, tomus.//

It is NJ, but if I was in that position I would want to be seen doing something visible to 'help the people'.

//huge numbers of scribes and their managers in offices (or more often these days, at home, munching Hobnobs between taking the kids to and from school).//

And lets not forget those looking after their kids and bringing them to technical Teams meetings. Absolutely disgraceful.
Maybe NJ & youngMB should name & shame these civil servants instead of just casting aspersions?
do you have some kind of bee in your bonnet about hobnobs newjudge? you always seem to squeeze in something about people munching them
As an aside - I was a civil servant back in the day, worked bloody hard & was only averagely paid so I DO have an axe to grind with CS knockers!
