What people may or may not vote for is only relevant when the election occurs, otherwise it's meaningless.

My house is worth ten million pounds.

That's my opinion, but it's meaningless until I actually offer it for sale, and someone agrees to give me ten million pounds for it.

If they don't, then the 'value' I put on it is fiction.
