This would apply equally in the other Abrahamic religions too - Judaism and Islam - but is it right or wrong?

Zacs //It's wrong of Gay people to expect religious organisations to change their rules, which have been known for centuries, to enable them to be married in the eyes of God.//

I agree absolutely. I see nothing wrong with same-sex partnerships but they should not expect a religious organisation to change their rules to bless it.
the church didn't have much to do with marriage until the Middle Ages, when they began trying to take control over private lives and insisting that husband and wife were "one flesh", which patently they aren't. There were same-sex marriages long before Christ.
What's the bible got to do with anything?
The original question, 10cs.
jno: //There were same-sex marriages long before Christ.//

There's a long history of homosexuals living in partnerships & unions, but these are not real marriages & had no basis in law.

The internet has plenty of websites trying to prove this is a natural phenomenon, including Wikipedia, all put together, no doubt, by interested minorities.

As to your assertion // the church didn't have much to do with marriage until the Middle Ages,//

Nonsense!
not everyone who is religious think god's law is immutable - there have always been schisms in religions where one group interpret some thing one way and another group do not. i cant believe the C of E took five years to debate this!
My problem with this is that it is no longer possible to disagree with gay marriage / adoption etc. without being labelled as homophobic. One view of that is that a noisy minority group have deprived me of my right to express an opinion. As I said it’s my problem, if you think this is all OK then fine, but I don’t but I can no longer say so, publicly at least.
'One view of that is that a noisy minority group have deprived me of my right to express an opinion'

It has done no such thing. You may get a barrage of 'right-on' / woke responses but if it's what you believe then no one can take that away.
Believing it is one thing, being able to say it without mucho grief is another, it ends with not bothering to say what think , or even have a view.
That's entirely your choice.
My believing it, and saying nothing will not stop the onslaught of workers though , will it?
Workers, damn! Wokery obvs
Then say something!
Gave up long ago
As I said.......your choice.
One view of that is that a noisy minority group have deprived me of my right to express an opinion.

you've just expressed one and it seems to be still there. What's the problem?
also, i have seen that being for gay marriage is a minority viewpoint - is it?
[i]There's a long history of homosexuals living in partnerships & unions, but these are not real marriages & had no basis in law.[i]

what's a "real" marriage"? If you're going to define it as a marriage of opposite sexes, then you're begging the question and presenting a circular arguement.
Marry can mean "Join together", as in engineering, so you can "marry" any two people together to form a union/partnership.

You can live, with and say you are married to, an orangutan (as long as it agrees!) but it has no basis in LAW or now the Church. - that is what the OP is about.
