May seem callous, but to see bodies wrapped in blankets when the survivors are sleeping outside with just thin covers seems to me they've got their priorities wrong.
Do you suggest the bodies are left *unwrapped*?

No they could use sheets, but if it means the living are kept alive then yes if necessary. The dead don't need to be kept warm.
Most of the buildings in Turkey are many many years old, and the engineer skills at the time of building very poor. Not that great even now.
and many of the buildings, although not well built, are probably six to eight stories high, not exactly high-rise but high enough to exacerbate such catastrophic conditions....
Yeah why is San Francisco there?

Turks have been paying an earthquake tax to retrofit etc
and it has been .... embezzled.

and I only include this to educate
Lovely little Beebster was twittering about some buildings fall and some dont,
and I severely emailed ( I cant stand fluffies without physics O level 'doing' science)......

Do buildings fall down because they are resonating at their natural frequency?

"If the earthquake vibrations push on a building at or near its natural frequency, it will begin to resonate, which causes the building to move with greater amplitude until some part of the building collapses or fails and the building falls apart."

google it. answer Yes. Time surely for a structural enginer and or seismologist to give an opinion? ( noI me: I am not one

Oh whilst I am at it:

Clive Myrie last night - "People are praying that more miracles.... "- eyes bulgy with tangible sympathy etc

No muslims dont "do" intercessionary prayer ( praying for things). Ask Ali Maqbuul - he should know. Bad mistake. Like saying Christians are doing salah. They dont. They do something else.
Like all countries I would think, they have no choice but to build upwards. Everyone is land grabbing.
Idea confirmed
I saw a photo of a wrecked building and atop was a table with an undisturbed vase on the table

So basically there is a maximal disturbance on the ground and a zero ( half a wavelength) at the table - say 10m.

so the wavelength is 40m. All you have to do now is estimate the frequency of the earth waves - I thought 5 per second was OK - and you can calculate speed of propagation of the earth quake waves.

v = f l - I am sure someone asked, they asked
If you think about it people build houses next to a vulcano. You really cant stop living because of what might happen.Me, I wouldnt.:0>
You also get earth liquefaction when it wobbles

https://www.britannica.com/video/185615/liquefaction-event-soil-particles-earthquake-combination-water

and buildings fall over.

//The dead don't need to be kept warm.//
Maybe they need to be covered...It's respect. Well, to me it would be. Blankets etc are possibly supplied by relief agencies.
I agree pasta, up to a point. The dead are dead, but the worst i fear is yet to come, in keeping the living alive is now the big problem.
I am utterly shocked at the views expressed by the OP on this thread. This is a disaster that could not have been predicted and the human losses are going to be huge. They could use sheets? really!!!
Cant see anything in the OP,about using sheets. Apart from that, a tuf situation = tuf calls, that no one likes but...
Look later on the thread
Like i say its a very tuf situation. They have to put the living first. Blankets and sheets are in short supply at this moment in time. Regarding the dead, the only upside is that it is very very cold at the moment. I think you know what i mean without details

So you are happy seeing news reports of survivors living in tents on the ground with no blankets and the poor kids haven't even got socks on and its freezing?
16,000 people dead or missing, latest figures this am . Just awful.
We are lucky we reside where we do .
