What I Don't Understand About.......................

......the missing woman case in Lancashire, is why the police are going to such lengths and putting so much into this case, when they wouldn't normally do that. Do they know something that they're not revealing? Don't get me wrong though, it's good that the police are making such a big effort, but they wouldn't normally go to these lenghts in a missing persons case would they? Why is this one different?

1. Shes been abducted
2. She's had an accident and not been found yet.
3. She's left of her own accord.
I know which of those is my choice. But I'd still like to know why the police are going to such great lengths when, normally, they wouldn't.

I don't think it's unusual for the police to make great efforts to solve a mystery like this. To all intents and purposes this lady was an ordinary mum living a happy family life with no reason to voluntarily disappear.
The latest news seems to be that the expert diver who, with his team, has been searching the river is convinced she's not there - and there have been a couple of reports of a scruffy red van parked near to where she vanished. They have to keep pursuing it.

Keeping an ' accident' cover story running may well keep the press away from the true direction of an investigation. Either to lull a perpetrator into a false sense of security or to anger them into making contact either directly or to the press as had happened in the past. I still have a feeling it will turn out to be an abduction murder eventually but I hope I am wrong.
Its a tidal river, the body could be miles away. Hence maybe the difficulty in finding, if ever. And lets not forget that life in these rivers, and out at sea will feed on such, releasing any gases built up in the body, stopping it coming upwards. I don't think the police give up, or give special attention. Missing person cases are very rarely closed.
What I don't understand is why the river search has concentrated only on the area where the dog was and also upstream from there.
As Nicebloke says it is a tidal river and yet it seems only now is the search being focused downstream towards the sea.
Even the specialist search team concentrsted on the upstream area. as far as I know.
