As someone of Jewish descent, who lost family in the Holocaust, I want to not only thank Gary Lineker for his comments, but to back them up too, with evidence.
Lineker tweeted "language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s".
To be clear, no I don't think the UK is heading for a genocidal event. I don't think Lineker believes that or is saying that. I don't think any reasonable person believes it either.
[... but ...]
To illustrate with just one of the hateful words being used, on more than one occasion, Home Secretary Suella Braverman has used the word INVASION, including in Parliament on 31st October 2022, stating: “The British people deserve to know which party is serious about stopping the invasion on our southern coast and which is not.”
Here are just three times the same word was used in 1930s Germany to also describe immigration:
1) In a speech in January 1939, Hitler referred to Germany as “facing an invasion” of Jews.
2) In a speech in Nuremberg in September 1935, Hitler referred to the entry of foreigners into Germany as an "invasion".
3) In a speech in Berlin in September 1933, Goebbels referred to the entry of foreign workers into Germany as an "invasion" that would lead to the displacement of German workers. He accused these workers of being a burden on the German economy.

Invasion was a perfectly accurate description, and one should not have to avoid the truth because of woke attitudes. It's part of the problem with society today. Comparison with accusations of individuals speaking as WW2 Nazis is completely inappropriate.
It's not a case of not liking something, it's a case of possible enticement of unlawful action against the individual politicians, as if they were Nazis, which is unacceptable. Only folk like Putin see Nazis everywhere, and I don't believe GL really does so why would he choose to come out with that subject ? With rights come responsibilities.
