No this…

// As Lineker prepares to return to his BBC role, doubts are now being raised over the future of the corporation’s chairman Richard Sharp.

Mr Sharp is currently being investigated after he facilitated an £800,000 loan for Boris Johnson at the same time as he was applying to head the BBC.

Mr Sharp, who denies any wrongdoing, was later appointed by the then Prime Minister as chairman in February 2021.

This alleged conflict of interest and the issue around Mr Lineker’s suspension has led to renewed calls for Mr Sharp to resign. //

Have you finished the official report then gromit
If he's 'currently being investigated' he and everyone else should await the outcome.
If he's been just let back then someone needs to go.

Better to resign now than wait to be sacked.

The ‘investigation’ was only to bide time while things quietened down over favours for Johnson, who eventually appointed him. The Lineker fiasco has brought it all back to the forefront.
Ah you've read the report of the enquiry.
//The Lineker fiasco has brought it all back to the forefront. //

It was being investigated long before Lineker did what he did. If he thinks what he did was above board, why should he resign before the report is finalised?
The Sharp affair is a separate issue.

Personally I’d like to see Gary reinstated without a lot of resignation or recrimination.
Everyone seems to want their pound of flesh
‘Lineker back after BBC bows to criticism over his banning’

Not yet he isn’t.
He is now.

He's behind you !!
Apparently more people watched the Lineker-less MOTD than with Lineker. Just saying.

500,000 more...hes far too big for his old boots and needs taking down a good few pegs...notice his smug grin in most of the photos during all this...bbc missed a chance to save a lot of licence tax payers money, unlike them to not be on the ball, said nobody ever...
He still cant keep his big mouth shut and uses his position to air his views on these criminal, freeloading spongers....

"In a tweet, Lineker said: "After a surreal few days, I'm delighted that we have navigated a way through this. I want to thank you all for the incredible support, particularly my colleagues at BBC Sport, for the remarkable show of solidarity. Football is a team game but their backing was overwhelming.

"A final thought: however difficult the last few days have been, it simply doesn't compare to having to flee your home from persecution or war to seek refuge in a land far away. It's heartwarming to have seen the empathy towards their plight from so many of you," he continued.

"We remain a country of predominantly tolerant, welcoming and generous people."
"We remain a country of predominantly tolerant, welcoming and generous people."

Indeed we do. But there's a fine line between that and being taken for a complete idiot. Unfortunately many people - GL included - seem unable to see where that line is.
Indisputable evidence of his confusion:

"having to flee your home from persecution or war to seek refuge in a land far away"

France is not a far away land, it is the other side of the English Channel. France has nothing going on that forces folk to flee from their homes.

If he can't even get that right one wonders how he copes as a football commentator.
Don't play dumb, OG, it doesn't suit you (it does some others)
Lineker is playing dumb because he won't recognise that many (majority imo) are not fleeing their home from persecution or war to seek refuge.

They're paying traffickers and see it as an investment.
I couldnt care less, I dont pay for the BBC tax.
