SP, as you will see from my original post here I’m pretty ‘shruggy’ about sexuality - and I’m not 21. Getting ‘shruggy’ rather than precious about sexuality resolves a lot of perceived difficulties. Should you and a few others here decide to try it you may well find it rather therapeutic. Just a suggestion.
I think perhaps 'shruggy' means that you wouldn't even think there's any reason to post about a gay footballer - I mean, it's not interesting is it?
Precious might mean you find it interesting enough to post about it. Maybe because you are gay and want to be treated preciously. Or maybe because you are not gay and find the whole subject fascinating, possibly as a source of comic stereotypical fun.
Just random suggestions...
There are recent stats that show around 12% of the population is gay in one way or another. In football it is obvious that gay players just cannot be honest with themselves. It must be very difficult for them.
An old sage once said to me' If the world was to sit on the floor and all the gay people in that world were to stand up, those left sitting would be astonished'.
