Is It All Over For Boris Johnson?
…or is there a way back for him?
What would have to happen to allow him back into Number 10?

Yes…. but I'm not petty. If I thought my worst enemy was being unfairly targeted I would defend him/her. I've seen some bizarre accusations against Boris on here and a lot of what I would like to think is thoughtless drivel - but having said that the drivel isn't 'thoughtless' by any means. It's deliberately constructed to condemn - and that is not only dishonest - it's spiteful.

Johnson was chucked because of his support for Chris Pincher.
Javed and Sunk resigned and then a growing number of MPs (I think 50) resigned.
I never got the impression that this inquiry was an unfair targeting because Conservative MPs had supported him through Partygate, Owen Paterson, Wallpapergate, the unlawful prorogation of Parliament, Jennifer Arcuri, and the backing of Dominic Cummings over lockdown breaches.
Johnson's problem he gave the impression of being ethically unsound - the Conservatives are quick to throw their leaders to the wolves if they their popularity wanes (Thatcher had the same problem as did Heath and Eden).
Not spite - just politics.

SP, it is not ‘as it should be’. I asked earlier how it can be right that someone who has already condemned him is chosen to sit in judgement. No one responded. Everyone knows that’s not right but you don’t object because it doesn’t suit you to object and others make excuses because it suits that to do so. Ironic that he’s charged with deliberately misleading people when those pointing the fingers are actually guilty of that.

The Privileges Committee will always be headed by an opposition MO. Harriett Harman was named as the head of the inquiry without any objection from the Conservatives.
She (like many others) may have an opinion on Johnson but all he and his lawyers have to do is prove that he has no case to answer.
But the Inquiry isn’t Johnson’s biggest problem - it was his subsequent lies (Chris Pincher). Even if the Inquiry wasn’t happening, Johnson was a busted flush.
The worst thing is about the end of the Johnson era is how stupid it was. When you have previous PMs being thrown over for Suez, Profumo, the Council Tax…it’s embarrassing to have been given the boot for defending a serial groper.
If only he’d only had an ethics advisor!

I think it does. The House of Commons as a whole approved a motion to appoint Harriet Harman to the Committee.
The other six Members of the Committee, //which has a Government party majority//, then elected Harriet Harman as Chair unanimously.
If the six members of the Committee saw fit to elect HH as Chair, then so be it.

SP, please spare me the sanctimonious preaching. It’s surplus to requirements and doesn’t wash. It isn’t a dig. It’s an observation and a valid one. I simply do not believe that supposedly intelligent people fail to understand why people who are biased against an accused should not be allowed to sit in judgement of them. You know and I know that cannot possibly be fair, right or just.
