There are some awfully sad and sour people on this thread. Holier than thou springs to mind. I personally, wouldn't condemn anyone to a loveless life of misery and I wouldn't condemn them for seeking and finding happiness either.

It's like when there's thread about TV/Film and people go on it just to slag it off, no need keep your vitriol to yourself.
Not because you don't share my opinion, anneasquith, but because, in this instance, you appear to expect perfection from a man who is really just a human being, and that means denying his humanity. Everyone makes mistakes but I don't believe people should be condemned for the rest of their lives for them. Furthermore, repeating and ridiculing private conversations that were never intended for other ears and were, quite disgracefully, recorded by stealth isn't nice at all. Think how you'd like it.

I feel quite sorry for the king. He married Diana out of a sense of duty - a bit like an arranged marriage really - so I don't think many of us would want that for ourselves - and now, with the death of a much-loved queen who ruled for 70 years, he has a very hard act to follow. I wouldn't want his job.
