The law is made by the government, what has that to do with Islam?
Question Author
Clearly the government has Islamic sympathies to have such laws.
in all honesty, many christians seem to have an anti-gay agenda too. Although nigeria is a muslim country, it's only marginally so - there are nearly as many christians.
That's shoehorning of the highest order T!!
Question Author
If laws exist where gays are so terrified of being exposed they can be kidnapped and black mailed, I'd say that's pretty clearly Islamic sympathy territory.
dont forget that until just over 50 years ago, the same could hve been said in the uk, a christian county

I don't recall too many gay people being kidnapped because of their sexuality, Bednobs.

Anyway, the best thing for people to do in such countries is to keep their religious beliefs and their sexual preferences to themselves. That way they can't be persecuted for them.

It is indeed, Andy. But if you're in a country where it's causing you problems, pragmatically that is the best option.
Nigeria is a country split by a largely muslim North, and a largely Christian south.
What unites the country is that it is that it is very very conservative (with a small ‘c’ ).

So this situation isn’t really muslim attitudes but both muslim and christians uniting against a common enemy, homosexuals.
