Many football fans are indoctrinated into 'fandom' and the various rituals therein from a very early age. There is an animalism which is very toxic (believe me, I've been to many a Leeds Utd game in The Cheese wedge which is next to the away fans). I'd say it's more learned behaviours, peer pressure and the toxicity of the environment than a 'conscious decision'.

Arksided - Are you serious???????
The expression 'an accident of birth' is a common expression to describe characteristics with which people are born - red hair, blue eyes, black - or indeed white - skin.
If you are not familiar with the phrase, that is how I meant it, and clearly others understand that, and have posted accordingly.
The world is sadly full of people who look for offence, and choose to see it when it is manifestly not present.
Your lack of education demonstrates your ignorance of a common expression.
Your willingness to see 'racism' in its use merely confirms that ignorance.
I express myself perfectly clearly in written English, I am paid to do so on a regular basis.
If the day dawns when I wish to express a racist view, there will be no confusion, or vague hints for someone like you to take two and two and make five out of it.
But since anyone on here who knows me at all, knows that I have my faults, but being a racist is absolutely not one of them.
Happy to explain, as requested.

Firstly Andy let me apologise to you, I certainly know who you are and wasn't calling you a racist. If you look back I merely pointed out that's how it reads, and how I read it on a racism thread.
I'm certainly not one for looking for racism or fault to nit pick like a lot do these days, so not as ignorant as you suggested or have a lack of education.
Thank you for explaining.
