Lauterbach...who dat den?

Around 25% of hospitals may have to be closed unless a comprehensive reform is carried out, Lauterbach said on Thursday.

We spend 3.4 percent of our economic output on a system that does not work. We have very high costs with sometimes poor or mediocre results. We don't even have enough staff to maintain the old inefficient structure.

The NHS has been known to need sorting out for ages. But the concept of obligatory insurance with the government to provide medical services to all it's citizens is still the best system. But it needs managing properly. A review of what has been lost over the years may indicate what needs putting back. Oh, and no, it isn't about Brexit, a percentage may be down to relying on importing immigrant staff rather than investing in the native workforce though.
OG this post is about Germany.
The UK spends over 10% of GDP on the NHS, if Germany can get by on less than 4% it must have a high reliance on private health care.
like most of the EUSSR Germany is principally private so there cannot be a meaningful comparision.

If only there'd been some kind of clue in the question (apart from a German sounding name).
