Enough attempted it and they were turned around. At least Australia nipped it in the bud immediately. We're pathetic allowing all these criminals and spongers to keep coming in their droves. Anybody who wishes to challenge their deportation to Rwanda ought to be made to take them into their own homes!

Good luck Douglas.
Harpoon Doug,, hmm, that's already been invented.
Back to the drawing board old mate..
We need a deep sea diver & a Stanley knife.
Easier to buy all available boats and destroy them.

Maybe harpoon the smugglers though.
Now I have a vision of the harpooned smugglers hanging on a line in the sunshine ( wouldn’t be a bad idea though Douglas)
I don't donate to the RNLI anymore either Bobbisox. Same reason.
The RNLI are there to save lives. You can't expect them to pick & choose who they will save.

If you wish to disapprove of them, why not use their attitude to lifeboatmen who have the good humour to own and use saucy mugs ?
Geezer that’s all well and good , perhaps if they ‘saved ‘ them but not towed them back ,tow them to a ship that swiftly turns around and take them from where they came , personally I am fed up with all the hand wringing that goes on about immigration, if these migrants are genuine, they’d get here through the right channels and that’s not the English Channel, they are economic migrants and if they can afford thousands of pounds to sleazy evil traffickers then they can afford a plane ticket and ask for asylum the proper way
O_G I very often agree with you - and, living near the coast, I have always supported the RNLI - they do a wonderful job locally; but Bobbisox is right. Here they are being used as a taxi service and not for their proper 'job'.

If they left the 'taxi' bit alone and only intervened in dire emergencies, leaving the Navy to 'repel boarders' (meant humorously) I would resume donating.

"Wow 10clarionst, I'm impressed with your solution,,"

T'would definitely work! Sure is worth it guvnor!
//...then they can afford a plane ticket and ask for asylum the proper way//

They can't do that, Bobbi. They would be denied boarding as they had no permission to travel here. There is no way to claim asylum in the UK from abroad and the only way is to arrive by "unconventional" methods and claim it on arrival.

I'm not criticising that. That's the way it should be because people living in France do not need to claim asylum in the UK as they are already safe. But that's the way it is.
I wonder who would subject their children, wives, and parents, to the dangerous journey to freedom?
The men take the risk and when they've found sanctuary bring their families.
Journey to freedom? Msybe the wife and children are still in unsafe countries.... but the men are already in a free country ....France
Bleeding hearts need to stop bleeding. None of the people who come here on rubber dinghies from France are fleeing persecution.
As you sow so shall you reap.
One legacy of empire is that we spread the English language across the world. The people who seek help come to a place where they have a common tongue.
Imagine trying to make a new life in a place where you didn't speak a word of the local language.
Sandy roe - a lot of people do just that. In France I devised a 'Survival French' course for ex-pat Brits. Many did not speak a word of French when they arrived - then they discovered that in 'France Profonde' no one spoke English!

One young lady, who moved with her parents, needed to learn to speak French before she could get a job, fair enough. She signed on with the local employment office and they sent her on a course they organised which taught her enough French so that she could get a job. There were people of all nationalities on the course. I assume that this system is still working.
I knew one couple who then moved from France to Croatia, to run a pub, without a word of Croatian!
French is one of the more common languages in some North African countries like Morocco, Algeria where some flee flom and Tunisia
the women and kids will arrive, when we have been overun
