Sad to hear that Doreen Mantle has died at the age of 97. Doreen played Jean Warboys in One Foot In The Grave. She also appeared in Father Brown, Doctors and Coronation Street.

Sad indeed - she was brilliant in OFITG. Only the other day I was playing the bit where Victor was feeling ill in the back of the car and she was quite unawarely chattering to Margaret in the front about an airsick guy she once saw on a flight she was on, even down to describing what came up. The way she continued completely unconcerned was a brilliant piece of acting - she really made Mrs Warboys into a genuine but comical character.

She reached a fine age, I thought she was great on OFITG. She seemed to have a lot of fun bubbling away inside

Oh I'm sorry to hear about that lady's death.
She was perfect as Mrs Warboys - her facial expression, her voice, her acting. Seeing her in Father Brown, it was difficult to realise she had changed characters.
A very under-rated actress, I believe. She was very talented.
