Even More Running Scared .
More Tory MPs are standing down at the next GE. A total of 49 are quitting rather than face the embarassment of defeat.I suppose the big swing to Labour at Rutherglen has got them thinking of changing their careers.

bobb, surely it doesn't stop being news just because it happens quite a lot? It's not literally an everyday occurrence, it doesn't usually seem to happen in this volume before an election, and it relates to the governance of Britain; that feels like valid news to me, and the sort of thing you'd find in newspapers. (Possibly not all the right-wing ones on this occasion.)
I should think the main reasons these Tory MPs are standing down is when they read in the press news like every one of the 44 red wall seats they won at the last election are forecast to return to Labour. Plus a further 22 so called blue seats that were held by the Tories in 2019 to fall to Labour, perhaps this is why so many are standing down.
