I was hoping someone would put out an explainer.
Very useful for those who want an understanding of how we got to where we are today.

The simple fact is Israel is being attacked, its people are being taken hostage and slaughtered not only through warfare but through deliberate acts of unthinkable barbarism - and you, quite bizarrely, object to Israel retaliating. Israel's capitulation would obviously lead to its demise and that would result in the establishment of an Islamic state. How difficult is that to understand?
if i can take it as read that you agree with those things then i did not misunderstand or misquote you. they violate the geneva convention and constitute war crimes... to seal a group of people into an area without food or water and then systematically bomb it is self evidently an act of genocide. i was not wrong to say that you endorse these things.
"hand wringing" over hundreds of dead children... listen to yourself. it is never under any circumstances correct to kill a child or any other non-combatant... no cause anywhere - not the palestinian one and not the israeli one - justifies the slaughter of civilians.
israel should end the blockade and allow gazans to resettle in the rest of the palestinian authority, who are the legitimate government of gaza since before hamas ' coup. they should sponsor the fatah side of the power struggle within the PA and work for a counter-coup in gaza to restore it to its rightful rulers... they supported hamas until 2006 so it shouldn't be too hard for them.
what they should not do... and i cannot stress this enough... is commit genocide or engage in revenge bombings. genocide is not a legitimate form of self defence.
my idea would be harder than just killing loads of innocent people yes...
it may interest readers to know that some 50% of gazans are aged under 14.... another 20 percent are aged 15 to 24... hamas came to power 17 years ago so the vast majority of gazans were either children when this happened or were not born. they have spent their whole life under blockade and hamas rule... they are not responsible for what hamas does and it is an evil thing to launch airstrikes on them while also preventing them from leaving and denying them food and water.
