I was hoping someone would put out an explainer.

Very useful for those who want an understanding of how we got to where we are today.

i do not support hamas toratoratora... nor do I support anyone who considers it acceptable to target civilians. I include the israeli government in that. I do not believe genocide is ever an acceptable form of self-defence.

19:32, have day off, I'm the biggest critic of religion! I'm 100% athiest because my IQ is greater than my shoe size.

I am saying things that make you upset toratoratora.... that is not the same thing as being uncivil.

Unititled, I do stand by my opinions - which is why I've asked you to read what I've said.

1938 one of the funniest things I have read in ages.

I have read it naomi and I have explained myself very clearly.

You've explained yourself but you haven't understood a word I've said.

yes I have naomi. It's pretty clear.

As clear as mud.  Enough said.

Whatever you think of Israel, they don't "target civilians" as far as I know.
On the subject of which, here's what I posted somewhere else:

"The bit about human shields was amply demonstrated by the film of a Palestinian (he may or may not have been Hamas) waying a flag and with a very small boy (hos son?) also with a flag. He encourages the boy to approach some Israeli troops, daring them to shoot the child. It looks from the film as if he is genuinely hoping for a bit of propaganda. As the soldiers stand and stare, he then encourages the child to throw rocks at them"

TTT ..19,38 One can always tell when TTT is losing the debate ..when he replies to a poster "Have a day off"

Their claim to the area is tenuous at best as it was deeded to the Jews for being the servants of the Pharoahs long before any claim by the current inhabitants. The Palestinians are a hotch potch of nomadic tribes that used to wander all over that area so why they seem to think this area is theirs over any other is equally vague.

This is true & no Israelophobe wants to hear about the 1947 Partition Plan which granted Palestine a state of its own. Or for that matter that 50% of Israeli Jews are non-white & cannot be accurately called European colonists.

Also anecdotally, my son travels quite a bit in the Middle East on business & tells me that all around, wherever he goes, Palestinians are not regarded very highly.

We have to kill our egos to remain peaceful, and we should be compassionate towards everyone. I live in a neighbourhood with a questionable rep. but never had any sort of conflict with anybody in short no body knows Im there.

I’ve read your exchange with ‘naomi24’ with interest.  It seems to me that you’re absolutely determined to deliberately misunderstand everything she has said.

Allow me to throw in my two-penneth.  Hamas are a terrorist organisation.  In their charter, they specifically state that their goal is to eliminate Israel from the map and exterminate every Jew on the planet.  Terrorism and terrorist have a specific meaning in the English language.  It means:  using violence, particularly against civilians, to achieve a political aim.  Therefore, by Hamas’s own charter, they are a terrorist organisation.

Hamas’ recent incursion into Israel, during which they deliberately targeted and murdered innocent civilians, is by definition a terrorist strike.  In fact, I would go further.  Hamas is simply codifying the goals of Islam into a political charter.  Islam teaches that the “people of the book” (Jews) are evil and are to be exterminated.  I can quote the passages from the Koran if you like.  Ergo, Islam is, by its own holy scripture, anti-Semitic.

Also, there’s the matter of land ownership.  The Jewish religion dates at least from 1000 BC.  It is likely much older than this.  But let’s take 1000 BC as a starter for 10.  This means that it’s at least a millennia older than Christianity and almost 2000 years older than Islam.  The land currently known as Israel has been the spiritual and literal home of the Jews for nigh on 3000 years.  In that time, they have been thrown out by Romans, Assyrians, Christians and Muslims.  The Jews have never – I repeat, never – left those lands voluntarily.  It has always been at the point of a sword.  The idea that Islam has an equal claim to Jerusalem or any other Jewish town / city is laughable.

Your tacit approval of recent terrorism against Israeli Jews demonstrates both your ignorance and hubris.  The actions of Hamas and their supporters is akin to the Nazis.  In fact, it’s even worse.  The Nazis at least had the self awareness to realise that their extermination of the Jews was morally wrong in so far that they tried to cover up evidence of their genocide.  But Hamas and their supporters don’t even have the humanity to even try and conceal their crimes nor their hatred of the Jewish people; they literally revel in their slaughter.

It is truly sick quite beyond belief.  If you genuinely think that there’s some kind of moral equivalence to either side of this conflict, then I can only conclude that you’re either morally bereft, intellectually stunted, historically ignorant or so misinformed about Islamic scripture (and its stated goals) that you’re borderline imbecilic.

"Your tacit approval of recent terrorism against Israeli Jews demonstrates both your ignorance and hubris."

I do not approve of terrorist attacks on jews or anybody else... i have said several times that hamas is an evil organisation which has committed horrendous atrocities... i in no way support their actions

given that we agree on that... how do you feel about the israeli state supporting hamas for such a long time? surely if a state facilitates a terrorist organisation they have some responsibility for what that orgsnisation does?

"If you genuinely think that there’s some kind of moral equivalence to either side of this conflict, then I can only conclude that you’re either morally bereft, intellectually stunted, historically ignorant"

do you believe that what you have written about islamic scripture justifies killing the children of muslims? because that is what israel does.

if you think i am intellectually stunted then perhaps you could use your dizzying intellect to explain the moral difference between butchering a family with knives or guns and blowing up an apartment building full of families? explain to me how one is acceptable and the other isn't

i have not misunderstood naomi. she wrote that one cannot object to the killing of civilians en masse and also not wish for israel to become islamic... ie the former is necessary for the latter. this is an endorsement of genocide. much as she likes to say how badly the palestinians have been treated she would like that bad treatment to continue. this is an endorsement of something she herself calls appaling.

I didn't say that or anything like that.  I've lost count of the number ot times you've misquoted me.  What is wrong with you?
