The poppy fields were a shattering feature of the killing grounds in WW1. The first Remembrance Day was on Nov 11th 1019! The poppy was adopted as a symbol to represent the lives and souls of all the deceased who suffered there. Nazi Germany had not risen then and your crude attempt to link defenders of Remembrance Day with them is yet another exersise in hate and misinformation. Shame on you and be damned by your own hatred.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
John McCrae.
My God - I've just seen an exchange between Julia Hartley Brewer and Chris Williamson, an ex-Labour MP (I'd never heard of him before) and I think he might be insane.
He's called Hamas "resistance fighters".
He's called Hamas "heroes".
And he's said what Israel are doing is worse than the Jewish genocide in WW2.
He's positively certifiable.
