"I don't recall any outrage when a woman was appointed as CEO of Prostate Cancer Uk or a sighted person as CEO of the Royal National Institute of the Blind."

excellent point.

the day to day running of a charitable organisation is by far the most important part of her job... if she does a good job as CEO then that is better for women who suffer from endometreosis

We can all imagine ourselves afflicted by blindness or cancer because that can happen to anyone, but no man - and this person is a man - can ever truly empathise with debilitating issues that can only ever relate to women.

why do you need to be at risk of something in order to empathise? i don't.

her job anyway as a CEO of a charity is to implement the decisions of the trustees. obviously they are satisfied with her ability to do that.

There are plenty of women who have no sympathy or empathy for women who suffer severe period pain, endometriosis or debilitating menopause symptoms because they have never experienced them, they have sailed through those - the type of people who dismiss conditions like ME and fibromyalgia.

I know several women who dread a female boss, because in their experience they are the most unsympathetic when it comes to 'women's issues'.

The best candidate should always be employed.

I think it is wrong.

It was also wrong for a woman to be appointed as CEO of prostate.  But of course men dont get press coverage for outrage.

"It was also wrong for a woman to be appointed as CEO of prostate."

why?

Use your brain, if you have one.

You are a wind up account arnt you.

I will no longer engage with you on any topic.

goodness is that all it takes to make you fold lol

When I saw this yesterday I was of the opinion that if this person is the best person for the job, then fine...but that was before I saw this person's disgusting comment about TERFs - this alone should disqualify this person from this job.

I don't think you're supposed to mention that, Deskdiary.  People aren't apppinted for any other reason than they're the best person for the job - and if you believe that you'll believe anything.

We can all imagine ourselves afflicted by blindness or cancer

er about half of us cant get prostate cancer

and being a CEO isntt about agonising about endometriosis but can they run the charity?

no wonder I am alsways out on a limb

oh hard hearted realistic worldly wise jade!

and dies this cynical view of our wisest mod extend elsewhere? such as deletions on AB are personal and subjective and bothhing to do with Site Rules ?

it cannot be! no no I say

//er about half of us cant get prostate cancer//

No, and the other half can't get womb cancer - but effects and treatments can be similar.  The condition we're talking about can only be experienced in any way at all by women.

it is possible for endometriosis to affect transgender men too albeit in very very small numbers

That's because they're women.

I've no idea what he has said regarding "TERFs" but if it is something that makes him unsuitable for the job, then that is a seperate issue from his confusion over his sex/gender, and presumably something taken into account by those considering his application.

I'd like to add my view that one need not have to suffer a particular issue in order to understand suffering and both sympathise and empathise with those that do. Not that someone in a management job needs to in order to manage anyway. His job would be about organisation, other staff would deal with individual sufferers.

Any objection to male gynaecologists? They really are hands on.

'rocky - a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist; basically anyone who states/believes that Transwomen are men.'

Thanks, Jack

Speaking of TERFs, I was surprised to learn that I am a CIS.  No, I'm not - I'm just a man.

Lol Barry.  This CIS label is beyond a joke.  I've just looked up the  meaning of CIS.  Latin  for  'On the side of'
