How Inconvenient.
Boris Johnson's WhatsApps can not be retrieved ahead of his appearance before the Covid Inquiry .Because he has forgotten the password...Damn Liar..Lock him up and don't let him out until he has remembered it.

I've just been watching Johnson. He said that 5,000 text went missing because his old phone was factory resetted.
This doesn't make sense. WhatsApp messages aren't held on device - they're stored in the cloud. Even if you did a full reset of your phone, you can recall the messages to a new device.
I don't think he's actively lying though - he genuinely doesn't appear to understand the tech.

Thank you - I've read that report, but it still doesn't make sense.
If you forget your phone's passcode you can still retrieve your WhatsApp your passcode to your old phone (or drop it into the North Sea a la Vardy) you can still get to your messages / archive by sigining in on another device.
It doesn't take a tech expert to do this.

why dont you listen to AB - all truth is there !
I am watching too. I thought he 'did' it himself and being a non-scientist botcched it ( vae victis! o miser Boris!) and then was er caught out... ( please dont delete texts)
Boris has something in common with Wayne Cousins, ( murderer) - they bofe screw around somfing dreadful?
No. they both reset their phones after warnings! ( cousins 35 mins before he was arrested, surely surely he was not warned by someone, "They" were on the way?)
On the WhatsApp issue ... I'm not sure whether Boris could get them back without help from WhatsApp itself. However, the WhatsApp messages each had a recipient, and all of those recipients should be part of the enquiry, and should have their own WhatsApp messages supplied. So all the messages should be available.
