apparently he was given the hat by the local MP, a dedicated Borisovian for whom the people of Grimsby had voted. So maybe club and town aren't in total agreement over this.

As a Grimbarian my self, I think all publicity for the Grimsby Town football club  is good.  The local MP however is rubbish .
