and there I thought you meant that wild Argie Popie-man.....

Pass .

I thought it was OK - and charles-y

He is keen the (Abrahamic) faiths rub along with each other - which is not historically impossible

he had not bothered to look up the NT ref for the  sentiment he championed,

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Gal 5 - 14

which I thought was charles-y too - not keen on really hard work

very different in tone to his dear late Mama - who one year sort of said - "hey everybody look where I have been this year!"

travelogue

so yeah - 8/10

Hard to know what else you would have him say, or how he would say it.

This is a tradition that has been carried on since there has been the means of mass communication, and it's format has not changed since the first one, nor is it likely to do in the forseeable future.

The King says what he believes sincerely, you can take it on board, or ignore it, as you wish, but that does not make it a 'crock' of anything.

Meanwhile, in the real world.

Canary42  //Meanwhile, in the real world.//

If that was true, which it isn't, because it depends on a rather flexible word, "homeless".

What would you do about it ?

KHANDRO, how would you define, "homeless"?

//"Such values are universal, drawing together our Abrahamic family of religions, and other belief systems, across the Commonwealth and wider world.//

Unfortunately such values are not universal - and if His Majesty thinks the Arbrahamic faiths make up any sort of family, it's a dysfunctional one.  I've no doubt he's well meaning -  but his attitude is naive.

The figure in Canary's link is alarmist.  'Homeless' means not having a roof over your head.

It was pleasant enough as was Stephen Fry's powerful alternative message

// 'Homeless' means not having a roof over your head.//

Not necessarily; there are plenty of millionaires who drift around the world staying in hotels, staying with other people  & living on yachts etc, by choice.

'Unsettled - not settled or established; "an unsettled lifestyle" person who lacks permanent housing.'

Khandro, that's a 'picky' argument.  When talking about 'the homeless' it's just silly.

Yes I know, but I simply said it was a 'flexible' word. There are lots of drifters in this world & I've known a few.

Canary instead of blaming everything on the RF, the Tories or the rich don't you think the first place to start is the irresponsible parents? - not all, I know bad times can befall anyone  - but the vast majority of these chidren have poor starts becasue they are the result of 2 people having sex without a thought of the consequences and then expect the rest of us to feel guilty and help to house and raise their children for them. That's the real world.

I thought this was about a James Bond film.

Morning, Prudie.

Hello Roy (you are always special to me).

Hi Prudie, nice to see you again.  I totally agree with you.

and if His Majesty thinks the Abrahamic faiths make up any sort of family, it's a dysfunctional one.

Oh come on, classic definition of a set ( collection of objects) and and this one has a bit ( not  element) in common. er Abraham.

and suppose his Majesty WAS saying ( speaking in Royal) 'and 'behave damn you!' ?

also I picked up a hint of  - after war-war there is  always jaw-jaw - so do the jaw-jaw bit now.

and Homeless? chrissakes - look at a photo of Gaza and those who lived in what are now plates of flat piled concrete ( and or  rubble) are 'homeless' - Jesus

at least I did His majesty the duty of listening and thinking about what the Royal Rocker was saying
