naomi - // Your reputation is fine by me, khandro - even if I do say you're a bit airy-fairy at times. ;o) //
Khandro won;t be able to resist defending his fellow fervent, even though dignity suggests he should simply admit she is a disgrace to her faith, and anyone who follows it.
So you might need to re-assess your view when the dust settles.
Paul - // OK. The Vennells person has been justifyably 'sorted'. //
Not quite - there will be calls for charges to be brought, we will have to see how that pans out.
Handing back her gong reluctantly under public pressure was her choice.
Defending her actions in court, if it happens, won't be - that may be when some actual 'sorting' occurs.
She's not a 'scapegoat' Khandro, she was front and centre, in charge from day one, so please stop trying to defend the indefensible just because she pretended to be a Christian while it suited her.
As for what "I did...' - What do you suggest?
Buy a crystal ball?
No-one could see this coming, except her and those like her, who made it happen, and then perpetuated the agonies for innocent people and their families.
Wring your hands all you want Khandro, but I will jump all over you each and every time I read you doing it on here.
> The Davey person should be next on the rack
This is the list of Government ministers in charge of the Post Office from June 2009 to the present day:
Anthony Young, 5 June 2009 – 11 May 2010, Labour
Ed Davey, 20 May 2010 – 3 February 2012, Lib Dem under a Tory PM
Norman Lamb, 3 February 2012 – 4 September 2012, Lib Dem under a Tory PM
Jo Swinson, 4 September 2012 – 8 May 2015, Lib Dem under a Tory PM
Anna Soubry, 11 May 2015 – 15 July 2016, Conservative
Margot James. 17 July 2016 – 9 January 2018, Conservative
Andrew Griffiths, 9 January 2018 – 13 July 2018, Conservative
Kelly Tolhurst, 19 July 2018 – 13 February 2020, Conservative
Paul Scully, 13 February 2020 – 8 July 2022, Conservative
Jane Hunt, 8 July 2022 – 8 September 2022, Conservative
Dean Russell, 20 September 2022 – 27 October 2022, Conservative
Kevin Hollinrake, 27 October 2022 to date, Conservative
All of them are culpable to some extent. For example, Kelly Tolhurst was the minister when Paula Vennells got the CBE. As Alan Bates said, none of them were any better or worse than any other - the problem was that the Government was on the Post Office's side. Also, the Government has other contracts with Fujitsu, beyond the Post Office contract.
