well it gave the mother of parliament its only UKIP MP......

Highest concentration of Brexit voters in the country.

it's near the sea

Was this not where Dr Feelgood came from.Sounds like a good place to me.

Dr Feelgood are from Canvey. Sade is from Clacton....

Dr. Feelgood came from Canvey Island.

Is that anwhere near Clacton?

next stop Holland if the dogfish on the Bank don't get him.

Clacton is in Suffolk, Canvey Island is in the Thames Estuary

Think Blackpool might just have the edge on Clacton.

24,702 Conservative majority.
There were more vulnerable seats up for grabs, this seems like a tall order for Farage, unless he is doing a Sunak and deliberately trying to lose so he can bog off to America sharpish and make lots of filthy money.

"Clacton is in Suffolk"

Not quite. Clacton is in Essex. The border between Essex and Suffolk (the river Stour) is a good few miles up the coast. Harwich is the last large coastal town in Essex (heading north) with Felixstowe the first in Suffolk.

Politically, Douglas Carswell won the seat as a Conservative in 2010, resigned his seat in 2014, won it for UKIP in the resulting by-election, retained it in 2015 but lost to the Conservatives in 2017.

The constituency includes Jaywick, which is repeatedly cited as the most deprived neighbourhood in th UK:

I've actually got quite a fondness for Jaywick, as my grandparents lived there when I was a kid.  However it has to be admitted that the area isn't without its problems:

Been there, Gulliver? - it's further away from Eastern Europe than Clacton is.

Two lions are walking on Clacton sea front. One turns to the other and says 'Not very crowded for a Bank Holiday, is it?'

Just imagine   ...   millions of voters do not want Starmer(including the lefties) millions more do not want Sunak(too small for his boots too big for his suits) and decide to vote for Reform because Farage is now steering the ship. Enough even to cause the chaos that is a hung Parliament. Farage will only accept a coalition with, what is left of the wet through, Conservative party if he is in charge and Prime Minister. Laugh? They nearly did.

Great toilets there, on the sea front.

Superb sandy beaches that are very crowded in good weather.

Pre brexit, 2014, 2015 it had a UKIP mp.

Since brexit it's had a large Tory majority.

Farage is thinking that with the Tories being so unpopular, he can regain it for UKIP/Reform. It's a bit of a gamble.

Question Author

I've just watched a brief YouTube film about the town.

If someone like Farage was elected to represent it that could concentrate the minds of planners, and the like, to act to give it a bit of a boost.

Farage does not have a good CV on General Election success, and I doubt this one will be any different.  In 2017 UKiP only got 7.6% of available votes, so failure seems inevitable.  After his face has been over the telly for the next month he can go to America and make some proper money.
