If you're a drinker will you be raising a glass in their memory?

This thread was started in good faith by someone (Sandy) who is a decent human being and it has been derailed by a short-sighted narrow-minded idiot.Any war is wrong.  Showing empathy for the civilians of Gaza is not the same as supporting terrorism.  Sitting down with terrorists in an attempt to find peaceful solutions is not the same as supporting...

I certainly am - and I certainly will.  I've been to those beaches and I'll never forget it.

Yes.

My friend Rolf was there. He was 100 yrs old in October but he is not able to travel this time. He has been before, as a guest of the London Black Cab Charity. Rolf is also a veteran of the Arctic Convoys and three years ago, in recognition of that, he received the Ushkov Medal from Vladimir Putin. I'll be going to Plymouth this weekend to visit him at his home in Devils Point. A remarkable man. We will remember all the Normandy casualties too.

If they read your daily BS they'd wonder why they bothered.

Sandy, please use the news section.

so we are not allowed to respond to this idiocy?

I can't believe this site FGS.

Your comment was too targeted, Tora. Play the ball and all that.

I will raise a glass for those that took part in the attack and helped to free Europe.

Not for the opposition force though.

Who wouldnt?

It was also 80 years ago today that the Allied Forces liberated Rome.  My grandfather was amongst them and was on one of the first allied vehicles into Rome.

sometime we won't play with the person that brings tha ball.

Over 5000 veterans travelled over in 2019 and now there are only 26 of them.

I have watched all of the commemoration programmes with a sense of pride and thanks for all their endeavours, and those of the young men who didn't return.

This poster is a pro terrorist disgrace. The fact he even feels qualified to mention the men of D-Day is offensive to me and many others.

It's not what you say but how you say it, Tora.

Please remove this post, It's disgusting and offensive from this poster. This poster cannot be allowed to even mention the heroes that created the condition for him to hate them. It's like inviting Hitler to a Holocaust memorial.

TTT, some will say that those boys died trying to save our freedoms, free speech being one of them. sandyRoe needs reminding of that.

Perhaps 10cs but if they ever met him they'd wonder why they did it.

Stop de-railing the thread, TTT.

I think this is the only D-Day thread on AB at the moment. Let's add positive comments instead of griping.

Surely, one of the fundamental freedoms these brave boys and men fought for was the right of Free Speech?

Have a day off JTT, the fact you side with a terrorist supporting monster tells me all I need to know. It's 2 days to go there will be other threads. This is like Dracula posting a vegan thread.
