Just watched 633 squadron, again, not my favourite but certainly up there as a classic. What's you favourite British WW2 film?

Hmm do you mean set in Britain or British made?

I was going to say 12 O'Clock High but checked and that is US made as is 633 Squadron.

Looked at a list of British made war films and Ice Cold in Alex is a top favourite of mine as is A Town Like Alice (Virginia McKenna version) but neither is set in Britain.

In which we serve.

Did George Chikaras star in 633 Squadron?

Sink The Bismarck

The Bridge on the River Kwai, Valkyrie, Von Ryan's Express... loads more.

"San Demetrio, London" is one of mine.

when I say British I mean focused on British operations and locations not so much who made it.

Oooo, you've reminded me, Prudie.  Virginia McKenna - Carve her Name with Pride.

The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours.

The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.

A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause.

For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours and yours.

Who could watch and not weep?

The Long and the Short and the Tall

ice cold in Alex

The Longest Day, A Bridge Too Far.

I had a long conversation with a very elderly Dutchman who recalled watching British paratroopers over Arnhem.  He said 'We cried'.  He was still, all those years later, visibly upset.

TTT, thank you for posting this.  Such an interesting topic.

I saw "went the day well" quite recently, that was a classic I didn't even know existed until it featured in an Al Murray program.

The one I found most intriguing was "The man who never was"

Above Us The Waves
