£10 Xmas Bonus

Regarding the Winter Fuel payment, has there been any anouncement regarding the £10 bonus that pensioners receive at the same time as the fuel payment?

Yes.  Back in the days when you could buy a turkey for 5 shillings and a bottle of sherry for half a crown.

I was introduced in 1972 and if it had been increased in line with inflation it should be about £120 today.

Many pensioners (like me) who are also on a significant Occupational Pension don't really need these token payments (but we do usually still pay tax to support them of course) so they really should be paid only to folks trying to exist solely on the State Pension. But this raises the "Means Test" ghost, much maligned in some circles. 

I would quite happily forego these annual increments, but strongly disprove of their wholesale elimination - as a dedicated Leftie I have repeatedly criticised Sir Starmer, and consider his behaviour disgraceful.  As a result of his leadership, I did not vote Labour at the last election and am considering not renewing my Party Membership.  Although he's not as bad as Liz Truss, we should still dump him as the Tories did her.

RR and SKS might be able to scrimp a bit more from the elderly by taking away the 25p per week they currently get on turning 80.

I say this as a leftie who is becoming more disillusioned by the current government.

The difference is, though, that Truss was given the elbow because she was too "extreme" (i.e. "Conservative") and you want Starmer booted out because he is not "extreme" (i.e."Labour") enough!
