Geoffrey Cox ..TORY mp has been missing parliamentary votes and sitting days while he works at his lucrative "second job" as a lawer in Mauritius. The former attorney general who so far has declared £500,000 in pay from this second job this year also missed two Parliamentary votes on the winter fuel allowance.
Apologies, my comment was a bit crass and was rightly removed. You could do with a bit of timeout though, Gulliver, from this obsession you have with the Conservative Party. Labour won, which is presumably what you wanted, so why do you go on incessantly about the Tories?
I'm sure there are posters here who dislike Labour as much as you do the Conservatives but they don't obsess about them day in day out.
You might as well soak up the glory of Labour's win for the remainder of this term as they will never ever get in again now that they have proven how dishonest, sneaky, disingenuous, hypocritical, untrustworthy and anti-British they are.
Deskdiary 11.34 ""A PM who accepts tens of thousands in freebies ,is a hypocrite and a liar"" ..I agree Johnson was a hypocrite and a liar. Especially with the freebies he accepted like wedding and honeymoon holidays all paid for .Like the refurbishment of his Downing st flat Wall paper at cost of £2,260,Two sofas £15.000 A Rug at £7,000 a lamp at £6,000 minus it's lampshade which cost a further £2,500 curtains and upholstery £21.000,drinks trolley £3,675 and a table cloth at £500.
If he did (maybe in the same way as Sir Keir eventually paid for his Taylor Swift tickets).
So gulliver, unless Botis took the stuff with him, it was Keir who benefitted from some of that stuff, or if he bothered to put it on ebay or send it to Southebys he could have raised something towards filling that black hole he found.
Here's the thing I don't understand with the far left like nicebloke and gulliver. Those of us on the right are happy to call out MPs on the right who have done wrong - I've done it many times and I've seen other right leaning people on this site do it as well.
But the hard left, when one of their own does it, they just simply cannot bring themselves to accept it.
Starmer has accepted tens of thousands of pounds of freebies (let's call them bribes, because Alli will want something back) but the hard left just simply cannot admit it, and it reflects poorly on them.
they just cant help it can they - throwing abuse at poor old Gullz.
I like the mimsy advice - "please stop cluttering Gullz so we can get down to the mimsy really important stuff like the size of Katie P;s front"
As I understand it Mr Johnson paid for the refurbishment of the flat.
yeah as I understand it jis just about it - - article in Times over refurbishments of No 10 over the centuries ( which I waded froo).
Disraeli in his second administration (of 2) ( honestly I dont recommend this) complained and said it didnt work ( dingy) even as a family home
so he paid for his domestic rooms
Gladstone ( room at the top like a set of servants' rooms) whined a bit but he had four goes in the dog house
at least one said he wd stay where he was thanks
Johnson paid for the gold wall paper ( after prompting) but not other things ( by implication - not other things in his private appartments)
whereas Walter Annenberg - ha ! you have spotted he was never prime minister you eagle eyed readers! - refurbished the whole of the American Embassy ( old building) in mrs annenbergs taste ( pink) when he was here 1969-74
he also packed the whole of his family into the coach when it was sent to collect him 1969 to take him to the Palace to present his letters of accreditation
oh come on readers, it was only 50 y ago - Jesus
