Couldnt that money offset any price rises for postage?
Do you remember when Jarvis got fined for the Hatfield rail crash? Where did that money go aswell?

Here the Royal Mail employ some crooks.I have sent cards - birthday and most importantly a congrats card to my son on his first degree and lo and behold he didnt get them cos they open them and expect money.I stupidly put a 20 in his card to get himself a curry and I have been having a running battle with RM and ********* since because they wont accept that the people they employ know when exam results are coming out and the large influx of cards at that time is manna from heaven for the unscrupulous (sp?).My son didnt think I had bothered.Edinburgh is the main sorting office for Scotland so they are having a field day but wont accept responsibility for some of the crooks they employ.Prob not relevant to the topic but it it just fired me up:).
O I get it -the asterisks said Po$tw@tch - How ridiculous.
Not just where you are dris.
In the 50's and 60's being a postie was considered a decent job. it attracted a lot of ex service guys after they were demobbed. They saw it as an important and responsible job. They took it seriously and were proud to work for the Royal mail.
Sooner or later the old boys slipped away and it just became another sh***ty minimum wage job. Thatcher smashed the unions - there was no job security- they stopped bothering to do criminal checks - the posties now dont give a f**k about your mail or doing there job properly. Its not the fellas who deliver your mail to the door (there alright on the whole) its those in the sorting depot. Just go past your local sorting office and sneek a look at the sort of people who are handling your mail! Dont get me started on airport baggage handlers.....!

So thats where my money went Drisgirl?
I sent money to my girls in Edinburgh a few years ago,(20 each), same scenario tho, they didn't get the cash.
At the time I blamed the P.O in England as thats where I was stationed at the time. Were they bothered tho? were they heck. I send stuff up by Special delivery now, it costs a wee bit more, but at least the sprogs dont think that their old Dad doesnt care about them.
