Well looks like the majority of the country had snow last night.

Choosing my words carefully, are we still allowed to say WHITE snow, or is this politically incorrect.

Can you think of anything else that we have left that is OUT of the clutches of the PC brigade

Brachiopod - if the people attending your party went there specifically to celebrate the birth of our lord, Jesus Christ, then it should be called a Christmas Party.

If however, they went to drink poor quality Chardonnay and get felt up by the bloke with the dodgy left eye from Human Resources...then it should be called a Winter party.

Laurence - I really get your point - a lady I used to work with wouldn't let us say BLACK COFFEE !! Can you believe it. I have quite a lot of black friends who thinks its ridiculous too.
Right .. I'm personally getting sick of everything being Un PC apart from Ginger! yes Ginger! since the whole PC thing, nearly every comedy sketch going uses it, and to be honest, why should Ginger Kids have to suffer this "gingerisim", when all others are protected?? Phew, that felt good.

how about 'snow hued snow' ? (can't say coloured either i suppose...)

or pale and wan snow ?

or pasty looking snow ?

What makes "white" 'wrong' is white shtts who think they have a monopoly on human rights. Racist a55holes make it incorrect to acknowledge a persons unique qualities.

Focus on the cause to minimize the effect: Destroy racism, sexism, and all other forms of tribalistic idiotistical supremacy, and PC will follow.

Just to comment on Looshead's point: "I know the press do create hysteria but they wouldn't be able to if they had no ammo."

Sorry, but I have personally had 4 experiences where the press did precisely that. Two of these were minor stories that if reported factually would have filled nore more than 2 column inches, one was at best an inaccurate exaggeration, and one was totally fabricated by the reporter. Three made the nationals in and by the time they got there they bore very little resemblance to the already flimsy story. In all four cases individuals were quoted as having made statements that were never made - on or off the record. In other words, the reporters - shock, horror! - lied completely.

At best, the various media report their own interpretation of events, very often though they quite simply make it all up.

Cheers, stoo (Long time no post?), the reason that our work's party was called a "Winter Party" was that it took place in January. (Because of the nature of our business, there is no point having one in December as it clashes with so many, (separate), client parties.)

But still, just shows how you can omit a few material facts, and tell no untruths, and it can so easily be portrayed as "PC gone mad" and therefore attributable to the "PC Brigade". (Who They?)

Still no evidence from loosehead and friends.
I know what you're saying Lawrence, the looneys at no 10 have got this Political Correctness to such a level we are supposed to watch what colour we call things now, so god damned stupid! I'm in central Scotland an I haven't seen a single flake of Snow as yet. It's a point though, is Black pepper offensive to Africans and Negros? Are Buttercups offensive to the Chinese because they're Yellow? So bloody stupid, only in Britain!

No we have to call it "Celebrity Snow" just like they wanted us to call Christmas lights "Celebrity Lights"

Only kidding lol

What's it got to do with No.10 ????

And can you tell me exactly who told you to "watch what colour you call things"?

madein1978 - all I ask for is one example please, of an officially sanctioned attempt to change the way people use colour words. Go on, just one. Please. And not 'my friend who works for a council told me' or 'I read in the Sun'. Proper hard evidence. No one has yet shown any evidence at all.

Still no explanation for the "crosses" in crematoria point.

Did they fake the scaffolding on the graves so they could sensationalise?

Brachio, of course health and safely is necessary and I take your point about the litgant tendencies. I just find some of the things a little silly though. I suppose if you have stupid people and greedy lawyers then you have cater for the possibility of litigation so some of the things are really to stop people sueing for stupid things.

It would seem unlikely that they faked the scaffolding just to make a story up. Seems even more unlikely that the story arose just because the council are all a bunch of loonies looking for somewhere to put some scaffolding up. (Besides, assuming the story is true, I fail to see what's wrong with someone making a potentially dangerous situation safe.)

However, as we're all still waiting for any actual evidence, bit difficult for anyone to give an informed answer...
Where do you think all this stupidity is coming from?? Of course it originates from No10, its all part of their plan to brainwash us into not upsetting the minorities. You want an example, right then, here it is! On a SCHOOL NEWSLETTER I read, it was stated that the department of education told the school that the nursery rhyme Ba Ba Black Sheep was no longer to be sung in case it upset the coloured children, instead they have to sing Ba Ba Happy Sheep.
That was several years ago due to one (misguided) inspector at Birmingham City Council. Nothing to do with anyone at no 10. Or the Department of Education. And the reasoning behind the proposed ban had nothing to do with the colour black but the colonial origins of the rhyme.

Oh yes, and the ban was not fully implemented.

(Interestingly, the Daily Mail printed similar stories about Islington Council & Haringey Council banning the rhyme claiming it was to be Baa Baa Green Sheep instead. That one was completely made up.)
Still waiting for evidence!

Still waiting waiting for justification for points above.

Hal there's loads of evidence, but you'll just poo poo it so it's pointless to spend the time to point you at it. What would you accept as evidence anyway? A sworn affidavit witnessed by a notary probably and even then it's a "conspiracy".

As said above, the media do exagerate, but in order to exagerate you need a sample, samples are all to readily available.

If samples are all too readily available, how come we're still waiting? You ask what would constitue evidence? How about pointing us to something we can all read & comment on ourselves rather than personal anecdotes or oft-repeated urban myths?
I promise I will not poo-poo any proven examples. In fact I'll eat my hat! What I want is an example, linked to a named public authority, preferably with a date (month and year, year at a pinch). I'll then look into it, do a bit of research. If it turns out to be true I'll roundly condem said authority; after having digested my hat, of course!
