I live a reasonably good life and assist my fellow man when required, but being a non-believer I do not think it is right that my destiny should be controlled by someone who can be excused in the after life for a decision made in this one, by his own God. Although I was totally against the Iraq war I went along with him, as being the age I am I was taught respect for my elders and people in responsible positions, but I think his statement just went a little too far and is an easy get out !

Am I alone ?

I am no lover of Tony Blair and I too am a non believer but please lets remember that the man said that he "prayed to God and that God will be his judge",I do not condone this but there are other sites where people are implying that he asked God before sending our troops to this illigal war in Iraq,this is not true.So please try to stick to the truth if replying.

I can't help but feel that Tony Blair was using his "faith" as a good excuse to justify his decision to engage in this appalling conflict;it seems an easy get-out clause for him and who will ever know if he will eventually be judged by the almighty ? Once again,he has owned up to a "Bushism" who apparantly also called upon the almighty for help in his decision to go to commit his troups to this frightful bloodbath in Iraq.

I find difficulty in believing anything the man says,and this incident is no exception.

well, he's already been judged by the electorate, and forgiven, at the last general election. If his God imposes a harsher penalty - for breaking the commandment 'Thou shalt not kill' - I won't mind.

Hard... who says God will excuse him? myself I think he's got GWB's hand up his backside as didnt he say that it was God who told him to go to war?... Im suprised he got away with that one... I mean if one of us ordinary people came up with that for killing someone we would be tied up and put into some institution for the criminally insane!.. but back to TB....

I agree his statement went too far one for saying God would judge him (even though I believe God will) but thats like rubbing the noses of the families of the people who died out there.. its like he's saying yes I am responsible but you aint gonna judge me God will...... boo to Tony Blair I say

I am very sceptical of the whole God - Bush - Blair relationship - firstly because as a christian I was taught "to give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar" and vice versa, meaning that God and Jesus do not want to be tangled up in the affairs of politicians.

Secondly, Blair is playing the same card Bush is and its starting to feel like a weird political "trend" - no different from the terrorists and muslim fundamentalist governments evoking the name of Allah to justify their actions.

Where did rational thinking and logic go? Are we on the brink of another Dark Age?
