now that theres no smoking in public places in scotland i wonder where the school teachers have a ciggy. surely they cant be seen out at the school gates having a fly puff in full view of the kids or their parents... makes you wonder
our primary school(manchester) has this week gone smoke free and on friday at home time my kids had to walk through four teachers smoke at the school gates its not going to work
And of course motorists don't force us to breathe in their emissions and drunk driversare never forced to kill anybody . And the drunk who regularly seems to spew up at the bottom of my driveway doesn't affect me at all !
its a majority thing. one person on a bus who is drunk and causing a problem will only affect those around him, but one person on a bus smoking a cigarette will affect all of them
since the gov. made fags expensive, theres more & more non-smokers so they have a bigger voice
unfortunately theres not enough victims of drunken violence, or victims of drink drivers, or puked on driveways. no-one listens to a minority
Clarion, I wish you were a lone voice, unfortunately many people like u believe passive smoking is harmless. No amount of scientific/medical research would persuade u otherwise. You've never worked in a pub I guess.
10ClarionSt - I know you are a non-smoker like myself, but have you ever seen someone drag on a cigarette, then blow through a tissue. It leaves a nice big brown nicotine stain & that's outside the body.
Only 15% of cigarette smoke is inhaled by the person smoking the cigarette with the remaining 85% inhaled by others or absorbed into the atmosphere. The UK Scientific Committee on Smoking and Health has estimated that about 300 non-smokers in this country die each year from lung cancer caused by passive smoking. Recent research has also linked strokes and heart attacks to passive smoking. The British Medical Association has conservatively estimated that passive smoking causes at least 1,000 deaths a year in the UK.
proof? heres my experience, sitting in a restaurant, some one behind me lights up, i feel my throat tighten a little and i cant get a normal lungful of air,i`m not saying i`ve suddenly contracted cancer, but i do not feel comfortable, has this only happened to me, has no one else felt like this
i dont care about scientific proof or what can be proven in court i know what i can feel
