How, precisely, are tanks going to help us against suspect terrorist attacks at Heathrow? Or are we just showing off?

In any case, in what conceivable way are tanks going to be a great use against a two man crew, most likely sitting on top of a building under the flightpath, with a missile launcher they'd dump immediately they fired it? (Which is the most popular scenario I've heard discussed)

I heard that the machinery on view came from Windsor barracks and that they don't store the ammo in residential areas so they're not armed. I decline to test this theory though!

If a dirty bomb is detonated at the airport they will probably have to keep people away. Anyway didn't BL say he was going to choke the U.S. could he have been referring to making ports unusable and so choking off necessary flow of goods and people?
