what gives the USA the right to be THE peacemaker in this conflict. Why do they take it upon themselves to do it as if no-one else can do it? Can't an international group do it with a delegate from a few countries. I think that the USA shouldnt do it as they are allies with Israel anyway, can't a group from the UN do the negotiating?

You really need to read about the high incidence of nasty little tumors filled with teeth, embryonic tissue and such, associated with embryonic stem cell research and how it is a badly kep secret among research scientists... such as here:
Claim 1
Using embryonic stem cells, researchers at Stanford University who are working on a cure for Type I diabetes are producing new pancreatic islet cells that could be used in human transplants and could herald a cure for this devastating illness.
Actually, the latest research findings regarding embryonic stem cells are that they do not actually produce insulin in response to glucose changes in their environment and are NOT the pancreatic beta cells needed to treat diabetes. When placed in animals, the cells did not reverse diabetes; instead, they formed tumors.1
By contrast, adult islet cell transplants have already allowed hundreds of juvenile diabetes patients to throw away their insulin needles, and even newer approaches, which do NOT use embryonic stem cells may be in human trials soon. For an overview see: www.stemcellresearch.org/facts/factsheet-04-03-02.htm.
Seems to me that the issue needs further study, which is exactly President Bush's position. Notice the bill he vetoed only forbade government funding for such research...

Clanad my friend, you very well know that there are no documents relating to the US Govt aiding Sinn Fein/ IRA, it really was not that sort of arrangement as can be well understood by any man of the world of which I am sure you are one, so you do indeed have me over a barrell with regards to written proof which you would accept, which is why I asked you to suspend your belief, however...
My point about the stem cell bill was that democracy is about representing the wishes of the majority WHATEVER those may be. That is what the Senate and the House of Representatives did (88% of the US people backed it), that is what George Bush did NOT do, hence how can he propose to take democracy anywhere when he doesn't even practice it himself? There is a word for a man like that and it is hypocrite.I'm sure since you know about the info you've stated below, the Senate did and the HOR did, or was it a brilliantly kept secret between you and Georgie boy?If the Senate and the HOR knew all of the facts and voted it through then your leader, as a beacon of democracy should have too, but the truth of the matter is that the US is NOT a democracy it's a Republic and George Bush doesn't seem to understand the difference.
A lot of people in the rest of the world are uneasy with America at the moment, as uneasy as they are with Hamas, Hezbollah, Al-quaeda because just like them you are bringing unneccessary death and destruction.
I'm not going to defend the UN any more as your opinion of them is so low that it would be futile, but imperfect as they are I think most people would prefer that many nations did the policing not just the US as at least in the UK there is a lot of lost faith in the US.

Clannad,
It wasn't just Robin Cook
On the 15th of February 2003 somewhere between 6 - 10 million people protested against the imminent invasion of Iraq - The Guinness book of records has the Rome one as the largest ant-war rally in history.
There were even some in the US!
Robin Cook would have seen all the intelligence (certainly all the MI6 intelligence) and what he saw lead him to the conclusions that Sadam was not a threat.
Please don't try to say that Europeans are arguing about Iraq from the benefit of hindsight because it's just not true.
