I read the papers, see the BBC, hear the radio, but am still confused about who is winning the current Israeli- Lebanon- Palestinian war? Can anyone analyse the situation and help me?

Israel has yet to fulfill its stated objective of dismantling the infrastructure of Hezbollah... witness the continuing number of rocket attacks on Israel from Hezbollah, so I don't suppose you could say Israle are winning.
Hezbollah cannot be said to be winning, because the IDF are still in southern Lebanon, and look set to stay a whiles.
And globally, until some sort of peaceful, sustained political solution for the region is agreed, the world loses out, because such a situation will always attract matyrs willing to give up their lives.

Generally speaking, no-one is winning the shooting war, but Hezbollah has won the propoganda war hands down.
I think, Israel was expecting a short, sharp victory, and instead, has been caught out by Hezbollah's preparedness.
The only time this will stop, because neither side will win, is with a negotiated settlement.
the real problem is, if a settlement is agreed, and Israel pull back, will Hezbollah stop firing rockets into Israel, I doubt it, and then we'er back where we are now.

I reckon Blair and Bush thought it would be a short sharp war. Thats why they have stood aside.
I did read the other day that Blair knew the Israelis were going to attack and said nothing!
It has back fired because, as Lonnie stated Hezbollah are winning the propaganda war. There are more people sympathetic to their cause now than before. Iran and Syria must be laughing their socks off! Rgds Al

The israeli's are learning what the americans are learning in iraq and afghanistan. You simply cant fight a force using guerrila tactics using massive amounts of force.
As Rock "n" Roll says the only ones "winning" are the arms manufacturers. What we always have to keep in mind is that in any war or conflict innocents will allways die.
What would be intresting to know is if the two captured israeli soldiers are willing for so many innocent children to die for them. I sure as hell know i'd rather stay a prisoner than have that weight on my sholders.
