more relationship trouble...

I was friends with my boyfriend for years before we got together. When we first got together it was so intense and lovely, i really thought that was it, he was the one.
Now, nearly 2 years on everything has just gone so stale. I know that we shouldn't be together but he has just become such a big part of my life that I can't let go. Deep down we both know that we are not going to last but we are both afraid of making the break.
I can't lose him from my life althogether I just can't, but everything would just be so difficult and complicated if we did try to stay just friends.
What can I do, we have tried to get our relationship back to how it was in those first early stages and it is impossible. Do we carry on enjoying each others company but not being truly happy, or do we break up and try and be friends, or accept that that is impossible too?

So really you'll just be prolonging the hurt. You need to make a clean break. It is hard at first but I guarantee you will adjust and new doors will open for you. x
Hi, I know where you are coming from. I had been with my boyfriend for 3 and a half years and 2 and a half months ago he went out for the evening and didn't come back home. I just knew something wasn't right so the following day I took all of his stuff back to his house. About 2 months ago I got a text from him asking how my decorating was going on which made me suspicious as he had never been interested in things like that before and when my sister arrived she asked me if I had spoken to him that day and I said no but I smelled a rat. She told me she had seen him with another girl and so we went round to his house as I need to see it otherwise he would've just lied his way out of it. For 2 months we didn't speak and then his new girlfriend attacked my sister's boyfriend's neice and I called him to find out what was going on anyway we got talking and he came round the following day. We got on like we first did and couldn't bear to leave each other the following day ( I spent 3.5yrs trying to get away from him and hated him). I guess what i am trying to say is that time apart from each other with no contact whatsoever should make you realise whether you do actually want to be with him or not and should reknidle the smouldering embers. If you don't miss him while you're apart then you have your answer but also you need to be prepared incase he meets someone else in your 'time apart'. p.s mine is now my ex and is happy with his loony new girlfriend lol!!!
