Tony Blair
Am I the only one to think that Tony Blair is a good PM ? Is the only reason he is being ousted , Iraq ?
Well I'd like to ask, when he took us into Iraq/Afghanistan, which incidentally was AFTER 9/11 !!!! If Gordon Brown had been PM or even if Ian Ducan Smith had been PM or whoever......would things have been different ?

I do believe him to be a man of integrity, based on the same evidence as anyone else - listening to interviews, speeches, etc, and also a notion that I'd rather have a Christian leader of my country than not.
I don't find it a lol matter, sorry you do.

You've badly missed the point whiffey! You can not draw a comparison between the air raids on Hamburg during WW2 and invading Iraq under the false pre-text
The whole notion of 9/11 was to get rid off Taliban in Afghanistan, who supported and harboured Al-Qaeida. By going to war with Iraq which had no links to Al-Qaeida we got stuck into a quagmire and our beloved Tony knows this very well but doesn't want to admit it.

jump, doggy, I don't need to justify my opinions to either of you. There is a ballot box in Britain and we all use it. People like you and me will never see eye to eye, but hey that's life.
I tend to get a bit prickly when I see folk slagging off my Prime Minister and government from the comfort of a Western armchair that is being protected by those same people.
I would love to see either of you accuse Tony Blair, to his face, of lack of integrity. You criticise from the shadows, very easy in a democracy.
Thank God for the ballot box.

Great speech yesterday, fantastic orator, every word delivered with passion and lucidity. He seems proud of what he has achieved over the years:
The NHS in ruins,
Crime on the increase,
Immigration out of control,
Education in a dire strait,
Political correctness taking over our language,
Sent our troops to an ill advised invasion of Iraq,
Reforms of the House of Lords so useless,he may as well have left them as they are,
Creating expensive, unnecessary parliaments for Scotland and Wales,
Despite promising to be whiter than white and sleaze free,Peter Mandelson gets in the Cabinet again and adulterer John Prescott keeps his job,
Can't decide whether to be the 51st state of the USA or a sub-division of Europe,
Forces through Parliament a law allowing the ******* of sixteen year olds,
Oh...and he abolished the role of Lord Chancellor...wow,what an achievement.
Well done,Tony...go now while you are riding high after your speech at the Nazi rally, sorry Labour party Conference.
He's a phoney and the worst Prime Minister ever.

lol Marky - another Tory convert lol. This is what is so funny.
(All of course from a protected and comfortable armchair in the Western World).
Has it ever occurred to anybody that Tony Blair and George Bush actually believe in the same things ? No poodle crap. And the same sort of things that are keeping us all with the ability to post views in freedom.

whiffey, I will still be sitting in the comfort zone of my western armchair and slag off this government. There's absolutely no bloody excuse for him to betray the public and this country just because he wanted to appease George Bush before the Iraq war. It's amasing people seem to have a selective memory here. Wasn't it America that funded and supported Iraq under Saddam in the 80's? Now clocks have turned and Iraq is the same as nazi Germany in WW2!
Anyone who remembers the recent G8 summit in which Blair's conversation with George Bush was broadcast without his knowledge can see that he is no more than a 'poodle' of George Bush and has very little influence on him. I have litened to the conversation and it was pathetic.
Yes the ballot box are back again and his time as a prime minister is ticking but history will not be forgotton and he and Bush will certainly go down the list as war criminals.

atta boy whiffey, and would you be that naive citizen that after his door has been kicked of it's hinges and you have been dragged into the street by the police for playing your stereo to loud, as you loudly protest ' you guys can't do this' or would you be, after the fact, the guy that was just following orders! don't forget to vote now.
The liberal democrats are clear that they would not have gone into iraq -( which is academic anyway - given that they are unlikely to form a government and having to face a similar situation )
The conservatives , if they were in power - would have , in any event - so where does that leaves us ?
Incidentally , if Cameron wins the next election ( given that the liberal democrats stands no chance ) does anyone really believe that everything's going to be hunkydory ?
The simple fact is that all governments that have been in power in this country , can be criticised for some aspects of their policies - either at home or abroad .
It's all to easy sitting on the touch line , shouting that you can do better - untill you are given the ball and invited to go on and prove it , and reality suddenly hits you in the face
Who would be a politician .. eh?

We should also remember that times change. Maybe the CIA did support Bin Laden in earlier years - but that was then, not now.
Similarly, Italy was on one side in WW1, the other in WW2. Situations move, and policies with them.
Incidentally, my most recent contact with the police left me in such admiration of their kindness and sensitivity that I wrote a letter of thanks, which is apparently a rarity !

I just do not believe there is such a person freely roaming our streets as this person who calls themself "whiffey" unless they are a complete wind-up in which case he or she have done a good job.
That comfortable armchair is the only true statement made, now as for it being safe and protected by our PM and his goverment that's another matter. There have been many savage attacks on the old in their armchairs (down to Blair's tough on crime).
Get up out of this armchair and go about your business on our streets and one is still at risk for the same reason and also the added risk from a terrorist attack, due to Blair and Bush's foriegn policies.
Your admission to writing a letter of thanks to the police, (is this the same Blair's police who we know from recent events have not been seen to behave impeccably)? has left me with no doubts whatsoever that you are completely bonkers.

'oldgit' you are living up to your name.
My views are not bonkers, very mainstream indeed, as the good old ballot box proves again and again.
'Truth' in matters such as these is only what one believes, and I see things differently from you, no problem.
My letter to the police was not an admission, you make it sound guilty or furtive. I mentioned that with pride and gratitude. The incident - of which you know nothing so can hardly comment - involved a member of my immediate family who was treated with great care and kindness, and it moved me.

"Good old ballot box" Pfffftttt...
If you must know, in recent years, less and less ppl get out to vote (as all parties are the same=useless), so if only about 30-40 percent of the total population voted, it wouldn't represent the views of the majority, or the 'mainstream' as some call it. But obviously ppl will always like to think their views are popular... well, whatever helps you sleep at night.
