What are people's impression of this party ? Would they win both tory and labour votes, or are they just a milder version of the BNP

UKIP is nothing like the BNP.

The BNP is a racist party, the UKIP is anti-racist.
The BNP is nationalist, the UKIP is internationalist
The BNP is protectionist, the UKIP is for free trade.
The BNP has an immigration (and deportation) policy based on race, the UKIP's policy is based on economic contributions.
I dont think they are like the BNP but they would never get my vote, I'm all for sticking in Europe.
This is their last manifesto. i'd suggest reading it, then making up your own mind.
I am all for staying in Europe
I am pro-European
Therefore I support the central aim of the UKIP, which is to get out of the EU.
It is the EU itself which is anti-European.
We can't "get out of Europe" without waiting for hundreds of millions of years of continental drift and geological change.
In a pickle - would a party who was, in your words, nothing more that 'an intellectual BNP', democratically vote a black man onto its NEC, the highest executive body of the party. the person in question is Dleroy Young voted onto the NEC in February 2006.
