What utter rubbish from these loony lefties! It's PC gone mad I tell you - typical of that ilk - the PC brigade.
As an upright, Christian, law-abiding citizen, if there's one thing that annoys me more than speed cameras as an infringement of our civil liberties and traditional English way of life, it is these do-gooders. Why shouldn't I celebrate the subjugation and torture of those damn Catholics every November 5th?
Damn sp1814 and his bottomless wisdom. 2nd proper answer and he predicts the end result of this.

It's running and running...
It isn't called bonfire night anymore, as most places don't seem to have bonfires. It is Firework Night...shame really, as I used to participate in 'penny for the guy' when I was a kid.

Funnily enough this is the first time in years that we haven't heard fireworks for weeks before..just have to see whether it carries on for weeks afterwards!

Regarding the Q, it hasn't been replaced in my area and have to say this pleases me. As much as I embrace different cultures & religions, I would prefer this to be left alone.
If it riles the Daily Mail, it's probably a good thing.
To quote the rhyme:

Remember, remember the fifth of November.
Gunpowder, Treason and Plot.

...and the pertinent second half...

I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.

I hear that 'hunt the easter egg' will now be replaced with 'hunt the chocolate Ganesh'!
Ganesh? The greatest Hindu god ever? You bet!

Apart from maybe Shiva. He's pretty cool, even if he is a Johnny Cash fan. Dancing in a ring of fire? Dear, dear...

Well, who needs the Christian ideas behind Easter, when we can count on some farcical local government to come along and either ban it, rename it or worse. Heaven forbid that we upset some religion, creed or race...actually that probabaly shouldn't read 'Heaven'....does anyone know the PC multi-cultural term??????
"Afterlife".

Thank you for that NH.

I have advised my sister that I will not be attending Christmas at her's unless she becomes more PC. I have suggested a palm tree instead of the traditional Fir tree, this will please numerous nationalities African/Asian/Middle East/Caribbean) & also to replace any angels/fairies/stars with Lakshmi! We obviously cannot eat Turkey for dinner, as they haven't made it into the EU yet, so a substitution of Kaczka z jabłkami (baked duck in apple) will appease the Polish.
See? Multiculturalism ain't so bad. It's just a few lifestyle changes here, a few tweaks to certain habits there, y'know...simple!

OK, I'm winding you up now.
Question Author
NH, I hoped that you were, one thing in in favour of multi-culture, do we get to have lots of husbands/wives like other religions?
You want more than one husband/wife?

Really?

Lemme think 'bout this.
Question Author
Actually no - it took me 14 years to get rid of the last one! Although a house full of fit 20 somethings could be fun.
So you want promiscuity.
People already do that.
Question Author
Doh! Do they?
Absolutely. Besides, even if you have a husband/wife, adultery is not technically illegal.

Though God frowns on it. His fault though. If you say "go forth and multiply" whaddaya expect?
Question Author
That bloody apple has a lot to answer for if you ask me!
Somehow I'm thinking this ain't about Bonfire Night or Bengali folk tales anymore?
Question Author
OK, bringing it back round to Guy Fawkes night........ Should we replace our history with some Hindu folk tale, or it is taking the p**s?
