Daily Mail - why I hate it

"It might not be fashionable, or even acceptable in some quarters, to say so, but in their chosen field of "work'=", death by strangulation is an occupational hazard.
That doesn't make it justifiable homicide, but in the scheme of things the deaths of these five women is no great loss.
They weren't going to discover a cure for cancer or embark on missionary work in Darfur. The only kind of missionary position they undertook was in the back seat of a car. "

nice to see charity at Christmas from the cancer curing Richard Littlejohn - lookout for his next trip to Darfur and his 'help the homeless' charity that he is setting up in the new year.
A while back, there were a few questions about why people didn't like the Daily Mail - this to me epitomises the paper's views.

When you consider the number of people who have died over the last month from incurable diseases or in road accidents due to maniac drivers or for some reason which is no fault of theirs, then there is no need for the country to decend into a fit of depression over the loss of five drug addicted prostitutes. They knew the risks and took them rather than seek treatment for their habit.
Littlejohn speaks for the law abiding , hard-working decent people of this country.

Each one of those women was somebody's daughter, maybe somebody's sister, somebody's aunt, somebody's niece.
Littledick delights in being controversial, due to having to justify his salary while having no discernible talent of his own. Prostitutes do at least keep some people happy, which is a darned sight more than that overpaid hypocritical hack has ever achieved. I wonder how much he'd be missed if (God forbid) he ever suffered such a fate.

These poor girls were someones daughters or sisters or whatever..It's a sad reflection on society that they descended into this way of life .
Any loss of life that isn't through natural causes is tragic .
Nobody knows the circumstances of these girls and people should not be so quick to judge ..There but for the Grace of God go you or I.
Liitlejohn should be ashamed of himself . Obnoxious Littleman.

I think Crete, that oneyedvic was actually saying what a disgusting article it was if you look carefully, he's slagging it off to high heaven.
With regards to Littlejohn and any other brainless, heartless, morons who've never lived in the real world, he really deserves such a kicking. How dare he be so offensive.
I cannot get over the total lack of respect some people have for women who work the streets. They are people, with thoughts and feelings, loved by their children and every bit as important as some fat, over stuffed, over paid, right wing, Fleet St hack that has an over-inflated view of his own importance. What a total fcking w4nker.

i think the reason why the country is upset is not because these women were prostitutes - no-one is trying to say they are more important that anyone else who is killed - its the fact they were killed deliberately, and that the country now has a PSYCHO SERIAL KILLER ON THE LOOSE!!
whatever you might think of these women - it is still a very newsworthy story, so get over it!
do you really expect them NOT to report this story?
if the papers made headlines every time someone was run over or died of natural causes we'd need a trolley to carry the hundreds of pages of the paper every day.

RL used to be worth a read but sadly he oversteps the mark on the points he tries to make and the moral gets lost. He is getting a lot of flack on the the mail readers comments section too. The Mail used to be a good read but it seems to be getting very one sided political these days and people like RL who continue ungagged and unedited have ruined the paper and I stopped reading it a few years ago and sometimes read the online version (along with all the other tabloids)
joko's right, the story is clearly newsworthy, so reporting of it is no surprise. It's also no surprise that some complete berks hold opinions on it. I am sometimes amazed how much people will pay them for these views, but then I'm amazed how much of my licence fee goes to Jonathan Ross for his negligible talents. You just have to take a deep breath and tell yourself that the world has plenty of obnoxious idiots and you're lucky because you will never have to meet them. I did see Wossy in Selfridge's last week but didn't bother telling him what I thought of him. If it had been Littlejohn I would probably have knifed him.
There's a lot of hypocrisy attached to this story. How many people would complain to the police if these "ladies of the night" were plying their trade outside of their homes, in their neighbourhoods? After all, they are mothers, sisters and daughters just out to earn a few bob without harming anybody aren't they? And risking life and limb to do it!
I don't like the tone that Littlejohn used, it was cold and callous, but I think he touched on the hypocrisy of the whole sad sorry episode.
It didn't happen because me or you did anything wrong, yet are we not made to feel guilty that these women ended up doing what they do?
It will happen again, but one murder will not grab the headlines. So, what is to be done? Kicking Littlejohn won't help.

Spoken like a true facist kev100, i'm sure the the various kids these women foisted onto the state to look after being utterly incapable of doing so themselves will shed a tear for them. As RL says the did not deserve to die like they did but at least they won't be able to carry on their disgusting existences, draining more much needed resources from other more deserving cases. You live that life, you take your chances.
