In my opinion, they've not said anything racist whatsoever. Ignorant, stupid, misguided...maybe, but never racist. Yet Jermaine has described Jackiey as 'white trash' and no-one has batted an eyelid. All this classic Asian hysteria and over-reaction...where's the justification?

Couldn't agree more. I wonder how many complaints Ofcom have had regards Jermaine's comments? None??
This is a classic case of a clash of personalities - nothing more (IMO) If it were 2 Asian, black, chinese (etc) people who were having these disagreements would the 'Racism' slur still be being hurled about? I think maybe not. Correct me if i am wrong please!
it seems to ave worked.......the veiwing figures are up......
Apparently, Jades boyfriend called Shilpa a P*ki during an arguement but it was bleeped out. I think if people are that annoyed by it - they ahould stop watching it. Maybe channel 4 will then get the idea to stop putting annoying and weird gits into the big brother house and actually put normal poeple in there - like the first series. They go too far out of their way now to find the 'unique' members of society that end up doing everyones heads in after the first day! Sorry, its just I can't watch it or I go into meltdown - I get so wound up!!!;-)
A guy on the phone on Radio 5 this morning was saying how racist it all was.

When asked about Jade's mum being called white trash by Jermaine Jackson the guy on the phone said "oh thats different"

Seems ethnic minorites can get very upset by the slightest comment, but when the same comments are directed at "white" people it does not count.

The trouble is in this country that we have bent over backwards to accept people from outside the UK, but when they get here they put us down, as the Muslim leaders did so violently on the program on C4 on Monday.
I for one am getting sick of the news being dominated by race, immigration, asylum, integration, racial problems, muslim bombers etc.

Just listen to the news over the next few weeks or months and see how much of it is about multi cultural issues.

I used to love this country but Blair and his cronies (and the tories before) have ruined it for ever.
"Ignorant, stupid, misguided"...the three main qualities of racism.
Well, the only snippet I've actually heard is the bit about preparing/eating food using the fingers.

"You don't know where her fingers have been, do you?" was what one of them said. I wonder whether she would have said it if they'd been talking about any of the others.

Why do they think she's any less likely to have washed her hands than anyone who's non-Indian?

If Jermaine Jackson did make that 'white trash' comment, then yes, it was a racist comment and he should be made to answer for it unless the atmosphere was such that it was a mutual joke (I get called a ginger t***er, but it's usually good-natured and hardly 'gingerist').

Calling an Indian woman (or man), however, a P__i isn't on. It's a huge insult to many because they're very often not Pakistani at all and have a deep hatred of that country. It would be like calling anyone vaguely German, a Nazi.

The things that the so called ethnic minorites and the muslems get away with in this country is criminal, Tony Blair has a lot to answer for, this insanity would not be tolerated in any other country in the world, i often wonder ,when did i lose my country.

Just to show that non-whites are prosecuted in the UK for race offences.
Tony Blair?

Is he Executive Producer of this series of BB, or something? PR Spokesman / Press Officer for Endemol or Channel 4?

If not, then what T.F. has he got to do with it then, vhg and Marvelman?
I cannot believe that even in News they are talking about such drivel.....c'mon!!!
As leader of the country he is responsible for allowing these ethnic minorities and muslems to have more rights in this country than Englishmen, that is why all this crap in big brother has started, ok for them to insult the English but not for us to say anything back, if it is not his fault for allowing this to happen, then who is to blame then. We need someone who will give us our country back, in America you are either American or you dont get in,
Marvelman it may have escaped yir notice but there's about 35 million folk living in America who are or were immigrants. I think you lost yir country at about the same time as you lost yir grip on reality
Interesting side point...The technical term for discrimination again someone because they are white, straight, male etc is "positive" discrimination. Apparently that discrimination is OK, it's just when it's racist against non-whites, mysogynistic, homophobic etc that it's bad. The problem with Britain today is that we have no continuity in our morals anymore.
QED.

Thanks, not-so-Marvelman

Did you not read the posts here, or what the whole media-generated circus has been saying - that it is ignorance (in your case, arrogant, pig-sht-thick ignorance) that has caused the furore - not racism.

However, as a subject of Her Brittanic Majesty's United Kingdom, and also a Welshman, I apologise for "having more rights than "Englishmen".

I also apologise on behalf of all Welsh, Scots, Northern Irish, and indeed Muslem [sic] Britons - since we are collectively, (in your superior eyes); sheep shggers with no electricity; poor drunks; poor, drunk, reformed terrorists; and terrorists.

THECORBYLOON. i am quite aware that there are millions of immigrants in America, what i ment was that when America allows someone in they become American, and have to accept the American way of life, unlike here when they are allowed to change our way of life.. if you think i have lost my grip on reality, i think you should open your eyes and see a bit of reality.
brainchiopod. are you really that stuped, and must you resort to filthy personal insults, i am entiteld to my point of view as you are , where have i mentioned the Scotts, or the Irish, or the Welsh, or insulted them, i am not superier or trying to be superier, i am an ordenary working man, i am sure that the people of the countries mentioned dont want an ignorant filthy mouthed , stupid person like you to apologise for them.
I don't watch Big Brother so I couldn't possibly pass comment on whether or not anything racist was said or if anything was said with racist intent. However, having read about Jermaine calling Jade white trash, I'm not quite sure if it qualifies as racism. Just take the example of Britney Spears, practically the whole world calls her white trash, does that mean that the non-caucasian people who use that term are racist? I think not. The expression '"white trash" seems to me to be an Americanism and the only analagous anglicism that I can think of is "Chav". If someone fits the profile of a stereotypical chav then an american might call them white trash. The actual term itself does seems slightly racist to me, whether the people using it are racist is another question (does that make sense?).

Sidenote: How does this thread have anything to do with "muslems"?
Marvelman - no I am not that "stuped" - nor , to the point, am I ignorant and Anglocentric - which, surely, is part of the whole point of this debate.

You are English, and should be proud - I am not taking that away from you. But proud of being part of the United Kingdom.

In the past, I have genuinely been asked "do you have electricity in Wales?"
Is this not far removed from referring to Britain as 'England' and saying that in India "they eat with their hands".
(Meanwhile - inbetween answering specific posts, this was going to be my previous statement.......)

Ok, I know it may be difficult for some, but put Tony Blair, New Labour, Immigration, Muslems [sic], etc. etc aside for a moment and answer the following;

The first question has been answered for you)

1. What is Big Brother?
A. A television programme produced by Endemol, a media production company.

2. If you don't watch Big Brother, how did you hear about the current 'debate'?

3. Who decided it would be front-page news? [Hint:- it was not Tony Blair]

4. How did the populace on the Indian Sub-Continent hear about it, and why did they react the way they did?

5. Why do we believe that the populace on the Indian Sub-Continent reacted "the way they did"?

6. Who, (in terms of viewing figures, advertising revenues and circulation figures), benefits from the interest that this "story" has provoked?

I'll be straight back with the answers, after these messages....
