How far would you go?

When driving and someone annoys you how far up this list would you go?

1. Mentally condemning other drivers.
2. Verbally denigrating other drivers to a passenger in your vehicle.
3. Closing ranks to deny someone entering your lane because you're frustrated or upset.
4. Giving another driver the "stink eye" to show your disapproval.
5. Speeding past another car or revving the engine as a sign of protest.
6. Preventing another driver from passing because you're mad.
7. Tailgating to pressure a driver to go faster or get out of the way.
8. Fantasizing physical violence against another driver.
9. Honking or yelling at someone through the window to indicate displeasure.
10. Making a visible obscene gesture at another driver.
11. Using your car to retaliate by making sudden, threatening maneuvers.
12. Pursuing another car in chase because of a provocation or insult.
13. Getting out of the car and engaging in a verbal dispute, on a street or parking lot.
14. Carrying a weapon in the car in case you decide to use it in a driving incident.
15. Deliberately bumping or ramming another car in anger.
16. Trying to run another car off the road to punish the driver.
17. Getting out of the car and beating or battering someone as a result of a road exchange.
18. Trying to run someone down whose actions angered you.
19. Shooting at another car.
20. Killing someone.

13 would be the absolute maximum, but the driver would have had to have done something pretty serious to me for me to react in this way.

3: If that car is in the wrong lane thinking they can overtake me and nip in front.
Done 6 but only if they come up behind an inch from my bumber and flash their lights, aaarrrgghh!
Done 12 when infuriated at a manouver
Done 13 follwing a 12 once!

I discovered what most American drivers would go up to - interested to know if we're better or worse.

I would have thought jake that US drivers would be generally a much calmer lot, given the availability of guns!

Anything up to 10 is probably understandable for certain individuals but above that, really need to chill out!

Great question Jake, i have gone as far as 13 but never done 6,8 or 12.

With the general standard of driving in Greece, it would be easy to exceed your 20 on a daily basis, so I've found it's much safer (in the motoring, criminal, and blood pressure senses) to back off, smile and think smugly "I knew you were gonna do that".

Since moving here 6 years ago I changed from the world's most irritable and aggressive driver, to Mr Laid Back, the world's most defensive driver.

i have done 1,2,8,9,10 but im a very calm driver and takes a lot for me to do other than 1&2

driving in London, I regualry feel like reaching 20, but usually only get as far as 10. Outside of London, I don't usually get past 2

Well where I found this it was claimed that most drivers rated themselves at 13 - but he was dealing with people who volunteered to try to change their driving and so presumably acknowleged they had a problem.

It would be an interesting place if everybody tryely was a 13 - we'd never get to work in the morning - we'd all be standing at the side of the road shouting at each other
