DEFRA and turkeys
It is suspected that bird flu came into the country from Hungary where Bernard Matthews has a turkey plant. Why the blo*dy hell do we import produce from a country that has a disease? When our turkeys were diagnosed with bird flu the shutters were put up within hours in countries including Russia , Ireland and many more. Is this ruling another *****p by DEFRA?

You have to ask questions as well of the BM factory in England. They must have been barmy to allow anything in from Hungary, knowing the massive damage to their business if there was cross contamination.

Yes well personally I cannot understand anyone who would eat anything from Bernard Matthews, but that is just a personal opinion, I suppose people must or he would go out of business. As usual what seems obvious to us does not seem to be obvious to others ... think back to feeding dead animals to vegetarian animals and getting mad cow disease. Common sense seems to be a thing of the past,
Le Chat: you are right, why do they need to import turkeys when we have them here already. Without looking into the detail I would say the rearing of a bird in Hungary is below the costs here even though allowing for the cost of transport. Some saving heh! These methods may put Bernard Matthews out of business!
