I have looked at the pay scales which are somewhat complex. Anyone who is remotely ambitious would not stay on 20000 for long. I noticed they also get paid for being on standby (21 overnight/28 weekends/36 bank holidays). So if they are called in while on standby do they not get paid overtime? 21 for five days standby look like 100 a week to me plus whatever they may get for doing the extra shift. I dont think there can be many higher grade nurses who are on basic.
there really arent many nursing jobs where you would be on standby though ...in fact i cant think of any at the mo
