A mate of mine was kidding earlier on email and said 'you're such a cow' (when clearly i am a badger..) ;-)
Anyway, got me thinking what a weird saying it is which we all say... why ?

Isnt it obvious you silly moo!?!
Badgers are seen as sly intelligent creatures for some reason. So calling someone a silly badger is really rather paradoxical, even an oxymoron (not an idiotic Ox).

Better to be called a cow than a chicken or a pig
To be an elephant or a whale would make you too big
A rhinos got a big horn, a stud is not an ass
Monkeys are a strange lot, and cheetahs are too fast
Giraffes are rather silly but not like zebras, see
They hide themselves in the plain as clear as clear could be
So when you are a camel and they say you have the hump
Or when you are just being daft and called a heffalump
Be thankful for the cow, shes a dependable old bean
And though we may chastise her its not because were mean
For anyone that can eat the grass and make themselves so fat
And turn the lovely green grass into a squishy cow pat
Must be worth a mention in a rhyme or two
So lets send all the other ones off to Timbuktoo
