Resignation
10 Answers
Hi,
Can anybody tell me if i would be entitled to any other income after resigning from my job?
I am currently looking for other work but after resigning from my job after work related stress/sickness. I think some people will probably think i am silly for resigning without having another job lined up but unless anyone has been in this position you probably don't understand! i was also under pressure from my employer to make a decision about where my employment with the company was going as i had been on sick for around 2 months so decided i'd had enough.
Any help or advice appreciated

Otherwise you might be eligible for Income Support. Ask at your local JobCentre Plus or CAB.
Remember that there are additional benefits which follow on from being on JSA (or other state benefits). For instance, you could then apply for Council Tax Benefit. (Ask at your council offices or CAB).

if your employer was bullying you, while you were on the sick love, you can have them for unfair dismisal and start the grievance procedure against your manager also the citizens advice will be able to give you advice on were you stand with that and also were you stand with other benefits while unemployed
good luck in the future

I completely understand what you are saying - I HAD to leave my last job before I had managed to find another.
Was your doctor aware of your stress? You can get them to provide evidence so you can claim benefit?
Otherwise as suggested before - take your ex employee to a tribunal - although talking from experience I know this may be difficult to do when you just want to get the hell away from them!!
Maybe talk to your local citizens advice? They will be able to advise you for sure - best of luck.

If you left yir job voluntarily and without just cause, even if you qualify for Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) a sanction can be imposed for up to 26 weeks. In other words, it will not be paid because you have made yirsel voluntarily unemployed.
If you are not fit for work, you should claim Incapacity Benefit and Income Support.

If you've been off work for 2 months your employer is entitled to ask what your plans are, when you foresee yourself coming back to work etc. Talk of constructive dismissal and tribunals is a bit naive. In many cases you can legitimately be dismissed for a poor attendance record however it's caused.
